Sony Screen Gems has unleashed an extended red band trailer for their new apocalyptic adventure, Legion. Showing off some of the special effects plus Doug Jones as one creepy Ice Cream driver, be sure to watch the 5 minute trailer in the video player below.

The film stars Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Tenney, Charles S. Dutton, Lucas Black, Kate Walsh, Doug Jones, Adrianne Palicki, Kevin Durand and Willa Holland. Scott Stewart helmed the production from a script he co-wrote with Peter Schink.

Plot Concept: The story follows Bettany as the archangel Michael, the only one standing between mankind and an apocalypse, after God loses faith in humanity. Man's lone hope rests with a group of strangers who must deliver a baby they realize is Christ in his second coming.

Legion will hit theaters January 22, 2010.

Thanks to WISEGUY562 for the submission.

There was a film with Christopher Walken(he played an angel also) a while back that followed a similar storyline, but I forgot the name of it. I like Paul Bettany, and the trailer looks pretty good, but I'm not sure I'll go see this.

I'm sold; looks great. Excellent cast and it's good to see Bettany with a meaty leading role.

That would be The Prophecy you're referring to 316mio. The 1995 one not the late 70's one about deformed bears

I think this looks effing awesome. I had no idea it would look this good. Reminds me a little about Ghost Rider's initial storyline in his latest series combined with Constantine, The Prophecy and Demon Knight. Totally looking forward to this

It was called The Prophecy

cellblock303 8/13/2009 7:20:15 AM

316, that movie was called "The Prophecy". It also starred Eric Stoltz, Virginia Madsen, and Viggo Mortensen as "Lucifer" (Btw, Lucifer in the Bible was King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Isiah 14:4-12 shows this.)

Anyways, I could go into a long discourse on what the Bible actually says about the end of the world and the second coming (Christ won't set foot on earth, He will come in the clouds, Acts 1:11), but I will spare you the time and trouble since I realize most on here don't care anyways. I just had to say what I've said.

Looks FUN, and its not even a summer movie! :)

Yes same kinda Qualities as the Prophecy movies. I don't mind it. I love the Heaven - Hell - Angels - war approaching type movies.

This looks pretty good i definately will go see it.

I too am sold on this.  Any movie with a person crawling around all unnatural-like gives me the heebie-geebies.  Love the shot of all the Angels swooping in. I was beginning to wonder who was "good" and who was "bad".

For a "Low Budget" movies...this looks pretty rockin' a "rabid granny!" Whoa!

Very few trailers have ever made my jaw drop like this one did.
