Red Dawn First Look

The first images of Red Dawn — the remake of John Milius’ 1984 nationalistic ode to the Second Amendment and finally kicking the USSR out of Colorado — have hit the ‘net after a long, long wait. The film had been held back for years due to MGM’s financial difficulties, and in the meantime its primary villains were given a quick makeover, switching from the Chinese to a country where nobody buys movie tickets: North Korea. Also in the meantime, stars like Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson made it big with roles in huge franchises.

“I saw it the other day and I was like, ‘Oh, right, I made this!’” joked Hemsworth to EW last week, talking about making the film before he had much experience in Hollywood. “It had this school camp feel. We were all from somewhere else and we were all excited about the adventure we were about to go on. It was like going to a new school, it’s just that at this school, we were shooting at people.”
Check out the photos of Hemsworth, Hutcherson, and co-star Josh Peck below:

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

I just don't see how it's going to be "Red Dawn" with brown, Islamic invaders...isn't that what they went with?

SarcasticCaveman 8/5/2012 1:10:33 AM

If they invaders are Islamic extremists, shouldn't they call it "Rama Dawn"?

Caveman in the article it says they went with North Korea.

Just watched the trailer yesterday, I am there.  I love the original, but am so open to some more modern warfare scenarios with this one.  It looks insane and like they're going to have them in the woods like the original, but also a lot more urban warfare.  I read when they were filming this awhile back that a few producers had watched the dailies and were blown away by it citing the "Call of Duty" games.  Again, I'm there.

Really! Really?!?!? More anti-(fill-in-the-blank) hysteria from Hollywood to help justify a bloated defense budget and immediate access to unlimited arms caches for mentally disturbed people all in the name of the 2nd amendment?

If this is an example of left wing liberalism in Hollywood ... I need a new working definition of left wing!

LOL...North Korea physically invading our borders.  Please, China did it just by buying our country.
