TKay, my point is if I want to see an incredibly dumb movie because it's fun, I don't have to justify that to you or anyone. It's my choice, and acting like you're better than others because you think a movie's bad is very ass-hat-ish. I liked TF2, I like GI Joe, I liked Wolverine, Terminator: Salvation, Watchmen, and every other movie I've seen this year. I don't have to "defend" a movie to you, and I don't have to defend my choices. I watched them for entertainment, for FUN...

If you can't handle that some folks down take their movies as seriously as you do, I think that's more your problem than mine.

And, lastly, just for one last clarification, there are much, much, MUCH worse about here than TKay42one. He just happened to be the convienient example.

We're gonna disagree, but I I promise I won't pull out the "whore" card if you don't!

all you haters need to go back to school and learn a little math.  Don't you realize that the profit numbers on these films are indicative of the fact that you represent a tiny portion of the population?  You can hate it all you want if you don't like it, and saying it sucked is true if you mean to say that it sucked a lot of money out of peoples wallets.  Michael Bay is an extrememly talented and respected filmaker, wouldn't you have to be to have the multi-billionaire Steven Speilberg supporting you?  Just watch the special features and see what this guy does on his films and how much he cares and how much he brings.  NOW, lets see any one of you make a film!!  You need to stop convincing everyone that your opinions are RIGHT and just let people enjoy what they want free of ridicule.

Also Warcry, I wasn't looking for an inquisition here...I know people are going to like what they're going to like and everything...I wasn't looking for justification so much as further explanation as to what makes a movie good in your opinion, without falling back on "because it's fun".  When I would give book reports in school and the teacher asked me what the book was about, I never said "SCREW YOU, IT WAS FUN!"...That's all I was looking for, more in depth reasons so that I might better see the point of view of people like yourself...because to be honest, I hated all the movies you mentioned besides Watchmen.

TKay42one 10/23/2009 2:34:50 PM

Yeah wish, Michael Bay hasn't sucked any of my money since "The Rock"...whenever somebody wants to go see a Michael Bay movie, I tell them it's their turn to pay.  Therefore, since I don't contribute to this "extremely talented" filmaker, I reserve the right to voice my opinion about what I don't like about his movies.  You want "haters" like me to shut up?  Wish for some PRIVATE forums if you don't want to read it.

I mean, it's not like I'm hassling Transformers fans at a Transformers site...that would just be a dick thing to do.

wish 10/23/2009 2:47:18 PM

so here are my reasons why I LOVED Transformers 2

I liked the characters, all of them!  I'm a fan of all the main actors new and old.

I laughed a lot, good jokes and good delivery

It was stunning to watch, great visual effects and scenery

I liked the story, it made sense to me and the consequence of losing the battle meant losing the planet and most of the solar system as the sun would have been depleted.... so yeah, that's something to care about!

It was long but kept a really good pace, it was exciting and......FUN!

Maybe I don't hinge my existence on a film, maybe I don't invest too much in something that I either have to love it or hate it, maybe I'm easy to please and maybe Keanu Reeves is the greatest actor in history..........he does star in many of my favorites.......who knows......

those are my reasons.

TKay42one 10/23/2009 3:00:22 PM

ALRIGHT WISH!  Excellent job there...I don't agree with any of your points, but I respect you for being able to list them!  That's all I was looking for from anybody here...something a little more in depth than "It was fun"...but I can agree with one thing...personally, I hate Keanu Reeves, but he does have a way of turning up in movies that I really want to see...LOL...what's with that?

wish 10/23/2009 3:07:18 PM

I forgot to mention the score, great symphonic music!  I'm not a fan of linkin park, but denying that they have mass appeal would be incorrect.

I'm not telling anyone to shut up, I love reading these threads, I'm just saying that the condescention by which some posts are written is un-called for and usually leads to the back and forth hurling of pointless insults.  Too often filmakers are criticized by people who don't have the intelligence or skills to acheive the level of success that they have and don't consider how it makes them sound.  Michael Bay worked long and hard to reach the point where he is and he's a very very rich man because of it.  Like him or not he deserves respect.  In my opinion it's no different than an athlete like Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky winning a championship, whether your a fan of the team or not, you have to respect the skill and dedication that went into that success.  Saying that they suck or that they are terrible is just pure jealousy.

Wait, wait, wait.....Everybody shut up.....Wiseguy, you saw the new Avatar trailer. Where did you see it? What did you see? Don't leave out any details.

For the record TKay42one I understand exactly what you were saying. I hated TF1 and 2 and that was a good analogy with the book report. I could never turn in a paper or shoot one of my own short films for a class and say oh it was fun! But I'll agree with the posts that say if it makes money then that means people like it. Because that's what I said when defending Dark Knight to people. "It's too serious"A billion dollars say a whole lot of people liked it.

For those of you buying TF2 on dvd enjoy it I ain't gonna' call you out. But I will totally post about Michael Bay being a talented filmmaker. I have a magazine in which Bay was asked why so many Decepticons that died in the first movie showed up at the end of Revenge of the Fallen and he said he forgot! Talented? He is asked later why Devestator is fighting on one side of the desert and the constructicons are fighting on the other side. His answer: I forgot. Talented indeed!!! Bay was a music video guy that got a very, very, very lucky break and makes explosions that people like to see. Everyone says he directs good action but I don't see that. James Cameron directs good action movies, that's why I'm stoked about Avatar.
