We don't normally cover romantic comedies like Universal's Forgetting Sarah Marshall but as the official plot says, this is first and foremost a romantic disaster comedy and it's getting produced by Judd Apatow. Apatow, like Kevin Smith, will always find a way to sneak in some genre-related humor that can appeal to us fanboys. Empire Online has released a Redband trailer for the upcoming comedy starring Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd and Russell Brand. Lead star Segel also penned the screenplay while Nicholas Stoller is set to direct. Apatow and Shauna Robertson are set to produce the flick. Richard Vane and Rodney Rothman are on board as exec producers. Here's the official website for the movie.

Plot Summary: From the producers of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up" comes a comic look at one guy's arduous quest to grow up and get over the heartbreak of being dumped -- if he can only make himself start "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel, "How I Met Your Mother") has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell, "Veronica Mars"). He's the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. But his world is rocked when she dumps him and Peter finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life.

To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: his ex and her tragically hip new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous (Russell Brand), are sharing his hotel. But as he torments himself with the reality of Sarah's new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel (Mila Kunis), a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world. He also finds relief in several hundred embarrassing, fruity cocktails.

For anyone who has ever had their heart ripped out and cut into a billion pieces comes a hilarious, heartfelt look at relationships -- featuring Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader and Jack McBrayer. Part romantic comedy, part disaster film, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is the world's first romantic disaster comedy.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall will hit theaters April 18, 2008.

Looks great, I laughed out loud at Paul Rudd... I know it's only inevitable that Apatow's films become old hat, but I haven't been disappointed yet.

Sweet! Looks better than "Pineapple Express", granted I only saw a scene from that one but still.
Definitely checking this one out.

That looks freaking funny as Balls,,,,the Pearl necklace joke at the end made me laugh so hard. I am so gonna see this in the theatre...I missed Knocked-Up and Superbad in the theatres, no way I am missing this.

Super Bad sucked, having very few laughs...in addition to being too long!!! Knocked-Up had its moments, but went from being a comedy to an overly serious film about the responsibility of parenting.

A far superior film to either of those movies is a little known film called The Stoned Age. That is a very funny film about late 70s culture and the stoned-out kids that lived in...and through it. Stoned Age is a real gem and a classic.

The guys behind 40 Year Old Virgin blew their whole wad with that movie--a truly great film...and a film classic, but their follow-up films have been nothing but over hyped letdowns.

Metalwater, since you obviously didn't read the article, I'll sum it up for you. The guys that made those other movies are PRODUCING this one. That's it. Different director, different writer.

The one thing I didn't like about the trailer was the use of an old Robin Williams joke from his stand up routine. Other than that, it looked decent.

I read the article...and producing a film is actually the most critical role, save for the script...and it may even sometimes eclipse that, as producers are in the position to play God with a film or television project.

BTW...Seth Rogen is one of the main producers for these movies, as well, he is one of the writers of Super Bad. You'll note that he has had lead or co-lead parts in all three movies.

Trust me...Stoned Age is the movie you should see...as for the 40 Year Old Virgin guys...well, they got one film right...but the rest of these films have just come off as movies that have all been based on partially formed ideas...as if these guys were drinking somewhere and in the middle of a drunken rant decided, "Hey...I'll make a movie about drinking with my buddies at the local Hooters and falling in love with the busty waitress all of us have been hitting on for the last 45 minutes"...and woosh, we have a not so well thought-out sex comedy movie. But in the end...as the formula for these movies go...to excuse the nasty male behavior...the lead guy turns out to be a lovable rogue who happens to really fall in love with the Hooters girl. And hell, while we are at it...let's just call this movie "Hooters!" Just throw in a few crude sex jokes, they don't have to be good, mind you, as they are only there for shock value...(example...Guy 1: Would you bang a chick with a dick??? Guy 2: If Beyonce had a dick, I'd bang her. Hell, I might even give her a BJ...but she'd have to blow me first.) A horrible movie, yes...but I promise you...show a few naked breasts...and lame ass jokes like that, and it'll be a smash!!! Oh, yeah, and say it is from the producers of 40 Year Old Virgin...while claiming that it is a provocative sex comedy...that miraculously escaped a NC-17 rating. Big Box Office guaranteed for lazy filmmakers thanks to the audiences that keep on rewarding them.

Rent Stoned Age dudes...you'll love it!!!

Can't watch it at work, but I'll check it out tonight. Kristin Bell is pretty hot, but doesn't really do much for me. I can take or leave. I haven't seen Mila Kunis in much, but she's cute. Reminds me of a young Angelina Jolie. And I will watch anything with Paul Rudd...

It looks funny enough and I though both Superbad and Knocked-up were very funny. This one looks to be following suit with the raunchy comedy. I'll be there.
Kristen Bell??? It would've been better if he was heartbroken over a good looking chic. Maybe one that wasn't cross-eyed.
