Goodbye Maniacs (Article) - 2/26/2015 9:26:36 AM

Totally sucks.  I hate SHH and AintItCool has too much stuff I don't care about.

The Flash: Crazy for You Review (Article) - 2/8/2015 1:00:58 PM

Tim, I totally agree with your assessment about the lack of heroics for heroic characters.  It seems so often these days, they only exist to have personal grudges with super-villains that cause buttloads of collateral damage.  No wonder everyone wants to register them.

@Iridian: I totally agree; the prison at STAR labs is the weakest aspect of the show's writing.  Locking everyone up without trial, ostensibly forever, even if they didn't kill anyone, does not seem especially heroic.  I'm guessing they are doing it so that they can run a "prison break" storyline, re-use several villains and milk at least 3 episodes out of Flash fighting teamed up villains.

Ted 2 - Official Trailer (Article) - 2/4/2015 10:01:33 AM

I was loving this trailer and couldn't wait to see it...until I saw Morgan Freeman  in the trailer.  That's a sin against nature.  What's next?  Daniel Day Lewis as the villain in Ted 3?

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Blu-Ray Review (Article) - 1/28/2015 10:12:48 AM

I agree that making this one all about Aquaman wasn't the most exciting choice, and I've never been a fan of all the failed retcons of this character, but on the plus side, at least DC/WB is consistently putting out animated movies instead of sporadically releasing crap.  I'm looking at you Marvel.

First Look: Marvel's "Last Days" (Article) - 1/26/2015 10:32:37 AM

So Marvel's Crisis eh?  I love how both companies turned some mandatory house cleaning to deal with loose ends and huge continuity problems into the promoted event of the year.  It might mean more if Marvel hadn't been doing an annual crossover mega event every year since Inferno.

Gotham Renewed for Season 2 (Article) - 1/20/2015 2:09:11 PM

Got as far as the faux lipstick lesbians in episode one and was forced to recall I was watching a FOX show.  Combining cheesy writing with a Batman-less Gotham just doesn't do it for me.

The Strain Season 2 Trailer (Article) - 1/20/2015 2:06:20 PM

I don't know why so many responses for this show range from tepid to downright hostile.  I loved the first season and thought the pacing was deliberate and helped the development of the characters rather than thinking it was too slow.

Constantine: The Saint of Last Resorts Part 2 Review (Article) - 1/19/2015 11:55:14 AM

I didn't dislike the episode as much as Janson, but it hardly matters.  This show is toast anyway; NBC clearly never believed in it, or gave it the time slot or promotion to help it out.  In addition, most of the writing has been pretty middle-of-the-road.  It's too bad though; a brave netwrok like FX could have worked wonders with the Constantine property.  Now, no one will even consider another Hellblazer live action project for another decade.  Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing how this show integrated the Spectew.

The Equalizer Blu-ray Review (Article) - 1/7/2015 11:27:09 AM

Oh, and The Equalizer reminded me how Will Smith being the world's worst casting choice to play Deadshot has nothing to do with race, because if they had cast Densel as Floyd Lawton, I'd be the first nerd in line to buy a ticket.

The Equalizer Blu-ray Review (Article) - 1/7/2015 11:24:47 AM

I loved this movie and thought the sense of vulnerability in McCall came from his OCD and they rather sadly spartan way he lived.  I thought Denzel's performance was a choice, not "phoning it in".  They have evidentally already signed for a sequel. @domino; gotta disagree, thought Equalizer was better in most ways than John Wick, except for the fight choreography, which, in the case of John Wick, was some of the most exciting and brutal ever captured on film.
