Reeves for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

From Twilight Zone to the Forbidden Zone

By Robert T. Trate     October 02, 2012
Source: Hollywood Reporter

Last week we reported that Cloverfield director Matt Reeves had stepped away from the new Twilight Zone movie. The big problem for Reeves was a scheduling conflict on another project. The only issue was, no one knew what that project was. Hollywood Reporter broke the story yesterday that Reeves will replace Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) on the Apes sequel. The next Apes film, titled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has a release date of May 23rd, 2014. This, apparently, did not sit well with Wyatt and he left the project.

Reeves has officially gone from the Twilight Zone to the Forbidden Zone in a week. What do you think Maniacs, was this a good move for the director?

Did anyone else think by the heading that Keanu Reeves was gonna star in this next one?

Yeah, I was thinking about the remake to The Day the Earth Stood Still and had an "Uh Oh!" moment!!!

omg nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! that director brought the fantastic new vision of this film to life! and they replace him with the sparkling vampire emo fest director! wtf???!! i was actually so happy and looking forward to this sequel not anymore!

@Mythos, I think you're mistaken. If you are referring to the Twilight vampire movies, Reeves never worked on those. He did the found footage monster movie Cloverfield and the American remake of the child vampire film Let Me In.

Oh I see the problem, Rob has listed that he was going to direct the Twilight Zone movie based on the TV series but is now doing Apes. In any case, Reeves is a good choice IMHO.

Oh come on now Reeves would make a damn good damn dirty ape as long as its under heavy makup and has no speaking parts.

It's the Director's fault that "The day earth stood still" remake sucked, lol...

Oh if you want something visual, but not too abysmal, we can take in an ole Matt Reeves movie.

I'll wait and see, but yea i Like what Wyatt had done.  Still this could be good.

I really liked Wyatt's version and was hoping he would come back, but so far I'm not worried. Have to hear more about the story from Reeves.

Brign on Apes with armor in the sequel!
