In a quick interview with CINESCAPE's own Mike Tunison, Keanu Reeves teased next May's MATRIX RELOADED, and sketched out a bit what the plot of the sequel is.
As Reeves marveled about the film, "the ambition of what [director/creators] Larry and Andrew Wachowski want to do, where they want to put the camera and the environments that they want to shoot in..."
Some of that ambition took a toll on Reeves, who had a "minor trauma" to his leg while conducting the massive, months long shoot which is to end this month.
"It's just harder, more sophisticated," Reeves said of the RELOADED combat "Instead of one-on-one fights, there are multi-fights and more weapons."
Those fights take the form of new villains played by twins Neil and Adrian Rayment, who play MATRIX incarnations of a new virus which is running through the meta-world.
"I thought that they made a great film [in THE MATRIX] you know, there is such a great style to it, there is great ideas, there is a freshness to it," Reeves said. "If you relate to the picture, there is a great vitality. I've met people who don't like it, who were just like, 'Whatever,' but if you do respond to it, there is a freshness and vitality to it and an excitement of cinema. I mean, yeah, I'm glad to be in it."
