Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 23, 2008 - 03:55pm
I don't know guys. I still think Harvey is really alive. That fall at the end wasn't that bad and Batman survived it. I think in actuality Gordon and Batman allowed everyone to believe that Dent was dead to preserve his credibility as a hero and so that he would serve as a martyr while secretly setting him up in Arkham Asylum. Mark my words....Two Face will return:)
THE DARK KNIGHT: The Joker's Wild! - Jul 18, 2008 - 09:40pm
Hanso, You are right on the money my friend!
THE DARK KNIGHT OWNS SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best Batman movie ever made to date! This is the version of the Joker I have been waiting for. Cold, sadistic, psychopathic and totally without mercy! Very much like the Joker in "The Killing Joke" and "Arkham Asylum". Nicholson has nothing on Ledger! And Burton certainly has nothing on Nolan! This is the definitive version of The Dark Knight!
SPOILERS******
I am so glad the Joker is still in the picture bit obviously sad over the fact that its such a tragedy that Ledger won't get the chance to reprise the role. I am a bit perplexed about Two Face though. We are led to believe that he's dead but somehow I don't think so. I think that Gordon chose to allow Gotham to think he's dead so they can remember Dent for who he was so he could be remembered as a hero and a martyr. But something tells me Dent has secretly been put up in Arkham Asylum, to be keep his new persona a secret. Along with the Joker of course. The fall Dent took wasn't that bad and Batman survived it. Just stands to reason that Dent was still alive but unconscious. It was also good to see the Scarecrow make an appearance.
Overall the story is just one twist after another. As other have mentioned here, it is very much a crime drama but one that teeters on the edge of sanity. I felt the film really allowed for an awesome look at the endless battle between the Joker and Batman. Chaos vs. Justice. The Joker exists only to "watch the world burn" and Batman exist only to try and save it. It was so refreshing to see a film where characters were the center of the story. I have read most of the reviews here and I notice that there have been very little comments about visual fx and the elaborate action pieces. Mostly everyone here is commenting on the characters! This just goes to show that you don't need thousands of fx shots to tell a story. (Lucas needs to take some notes here).
Overall this film ruled. I will definitely be going to see this one again:) And to the guy who reviewed this, you need to change your rating to an A+++++++++++++++++++++++
