RESIDENT EVIL 4 Is "Possible" for Sony

This isn't really breaking news but I'll pass it along to you fellow Maniacs. Since executive producer Paul W.S Anderson and Sony Screen Gems always kept their budgets low for the trilogy of Resident Evil, there is some discussions underway between them about doing a Resident Evil 4. If you saw the final film, there's definitely a few openings to lead them into new directions. Here's what Anderson---who has Death Race coming into theaters later this summer---had to say to MTV.

"I'm just starting to talk to Sony about it," Anderson said. "I don't even know if anything will come of it, but there's a possibility it might happen."

I always thought a sequel was inevitable. The films have been decent for the most part and have performed fairly well at the b.o. I'm actually surprise that they're just now talking aqbout keeping the franchise going.

Yes, and as untrue to the video game as it was, I still have a soft spot in my heart for ass-kicking Alice. I loved her and I'm totally bummed that it's rumored around that she will have no part in it. Milla Jovovich was really one of the only reasons I followed the movies. >_>

As Hellboy would say: clean that mouth of yours and if you don't bite on this.

SLAMMMMMM

Now for God of War, it's just too cleary for a feature film.

If I'm not mistaken, and I'm sure someone will let me know if I am, at the end of RE:Extinction Claire said they were going to a virus free area in Alaska. As soon as I heard that I thought it would be ironic if they ended up in Barrow, Alaska where 30 Days of Night took place.
I realize that's not going to happen but it might be a cool crossover from fighting one undead speices to another.

I didn't have any real complaints about the last RE film, but not a lot seemed to HAPPEN in it. I mean, there was action, but there wasn't a lot of story. I'd gladly watch another one, I'd just rather see more story goin' on....

....though crap blowin' up all over the place is fun too....

before making Resident Evil 4, werent they talking about doing a totally CGI Resident Evil DVD first before the fouth part? I thought the R.E. CGI DVD was completely separate and outside of the movie continuity... am I wrong?

as for part 3, stuff blew up, there was action, there wasnt much story but a lot of the movie was stolen from other flicks like The Birds, Road Warrior, Day of the Dead and even Resident Evil the original.

say what you want about R.E.III it was vastly superior to RE2 - which stole it's main villain from that season of Buffy where she fights A.D.A.M. - hokey.

Paul WS Anderson is a hack.

Anderson says he's waiting for the script to be "right" and "good", but... since when has the director of AVP, the Resident Evil franchise or Deathrace 3000 given a damn about quality scripts?

I hope this license just dies, so some one can make a good version in a decade or so.

I`d have no problem with Resident Evil 4 although the only reason i ever really watched it was for Alice/Milla Jovovich. The first one was pretty good as far as video game to movie adaptations go. Paul WS Anderson is indeed a bit of a hack. He's not on the level of a Uwe Boll, but he is pretty bad in his own rite. I disagree that they stole things from other flicks because you could nitpick any movie and say the same exact thing, but the story in the second and third acts just become really deluded and while in the second flick you kind of cared about the other characters. You didn`t give 2 shits about anyone but Alice. If they are going to do a 4th film they should focus on that dude in RE4 the game and that crazy ass village. That game scared the crap out of me more than few times. I never even finished it.
