The return of DARK SHADOWS

The dark, moody soap opera DARK SHADOWS is returning to television. Dan Curtis, one of the original producers on the ABC TV series from the late '60s, is teaming up with WEST WING and ER producer John Wells on a new DARK SHADOWS pilot for The WB Network. Former comic book writer Mark Verheiden (he wrote the first couple of PREDATOR mini-series for Dark Horse Comics) will pen the pilot script; presently Verheiden writes and is a co-executive producer on SMALLVILLE. The pilot is being targeted as a possible new series on the network for the next fall television season.

The original DARK SHADOWS ran from 1966 to 1971 and starred Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins, a vampire living in a small hamlet of Collinsport, Maine. The show dealt with plenty of spooky characters and creatures, from witches to werewolves. The show was revived back in 1991 and actor Ben Cross was cast to play the new Barnabas but it failed to attract viewers.
