According to Variety, director Matthew Vaughn is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm a big screen version of the 1960s classic spy series THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. First broadcast in 1964, the TV show starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as two secret agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) that matched wits against the operatives of the evil agency known as THRUSH. Four seasons of the series were produced.

The movie version of U.N.C.L.E. will follow a similar path in its development as that other TV-to-film spy franchise, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. No stars are attached to the project as of yet.

Director Vaughn has more credits as a producer right now. He's been involved with the Guy Ritchie films LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, SNATCH and SWEPT AWAY. Vaughn is making his directing debut with the British crime caper LAYER CAKE.
