What a horrible choice. If Gerard Butler were younger, I'd like to see him in this, but Fassbender would be great imo. Reboots aren't my favorite things in the world, but now this lowers my already basement level expectations even further.  I enjoyed Reynolds's performance in Buried. I thought it was a decent flick, and I havent seen Safe House yet to know how he was in that. Doing a serious role will be fine for him, but can he be Scottish? After 400 years he doesnt have to have the accent, but if they plan on doing flashbacks its a must.

Also...will we still get the Queen soundtrack? or some stupid modern versions of the songs...Who Wants to Live Forever performed by Kanye West...

I think you guys are focusing too much on the accent.  Too many people griping about the fact that Reynolds isn't Scottish, like Lambert was?  That's the beauty of acting, you can be fully British but still play a Russian, petty details like that are meant to be ignored.  As for Reynolds, I have no problem with him.  True, Green Lantern wasn't great but never confuse a poor story with a poor actor.  Once again my eternal mantra must be said: More details must be given before judgement can be passed.

RR is a bit small to be a highlander ... forget abt the accent

 I'm surprised they didn't go for Richard Madden, he seems like an excellent fit for this role.

Why not cast it like the original? I remember when I first saw the trailer for Deep Blue Sea and thought Thomas Jane was Christopher Lambert. He has a similar look. After that, I always wanted Thomas Jane as Connor and Gerard Butler as Ramirez. Why not cast another Scot to play an Egyptian?

I can think of worse choices, Tatum Channing for one.  Or Paul Walker.   

I don't think I've ever heard Reynolds attempt a Scottish accent so who knows if he can pull one off.  Andrew Garfield is English yet he's still playing Spiderman.  I thought James Marsters was English for a bit.  

I'm more dissapointed in the fact that it is just another movie remake as studios will bank on a nostalgia factor to drive ticket sales.  I think I'm done spending money on remakes for the most part.

Well... there goes a somewhat promising career. I was hoping Reynolds was going to pull out of this tail spin, I didnt think he did too bad in GL, I think the quality of the movie was more story problems than his acting.

But this is a really dumb move. Both the idea of Rebooting the franchise and him taking the job.
