Ridley Scott has a new supernatural thriller on the way, based around the Stonehenge mythology, reports Variety. The Fox 2000 film STONES was written by Matt Cirulnick and Scott will direct/produce the film through his Scott Free shingle. Cirulnick got the gig after scripting Elysium for New Regency, a film that weaves Greek mythology into a drama. He fixed on the idea that Stonehenge, the great pyramids and other artifacts were built for a specific unified purpose.

Plot Concept: Story revolves around the mysterious destruction of ancient religious sites around the world. It turns out that Stonehenge is the tie that binds together artifacts that still have primeval powers.

Scott's schedule is busy at the moment after his American Gangster hit theaters two weeks ago with the director currently shooting Body of Lies, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. After that, he plans to move onward to the Robin Hood revision Nottingham, starring Crowe as well. The trade reports this supernatural thriller won't enter production until after the strike issues are resolved.

Crow and Scott are best friends now....anyway, so far everything they make together was great, exept the romantic movie they make in france, but i heard it was not very serious, just because Scott own a villa there. The plot look nice, i have faith on scott, i must say, on scott family..they really do good job

I agree exfan, the Scotts don't make many bad movies, now they have made a couple, but who hasn't? All in ll they are fairly consistent at turning good films.

I am a big Ridley Scott fan, and I think this project sounds awesome. It actually sounds - GASP! - original and could be exciting and interesting. I only hope that Scott doesn't burn himself out by making movie after movie now. Didn't he take some major time off during the 90's where he didn't make too many films? The only ones that come to mind are White Squall and G.I. Jane.

rgtchtiger, Ridley Scott did direct a couple other films during the 90s. The two you mentioned were from the mid-90s, in the early 90s he directed Thelma & Louise and 1492. One could also argue that Gladiator (released in 2000) was his late 1990s project. All in all, he has directed as many movies in the 1990s as the 1980s. He's actually grown considerably more prolific this decade - by 2010, Scott is likely to have directed more movies this decade than the previous two decades combined.

Sounds good to me. I love Scott's movies overall.

Ridley has Crowe and Tony has Denzel,,,,they both have a a little bromance going on. I love both of the Scott movies, although, I tend to like the ADD flashiness of Tony's movies lately a little more. All three of Ridleys upcoming movies sound very good, although, I am curious to see what the publics reaction is going to be to a new Robin Hood movie. last good Robin Hood movie to me was Men in Tights (which was done after Costner's, which was very good also.)
