Well - I don't see how you can diss on a movie that isn't even in pre-production yet.  As much as I loved the first two Spider-Man films, Raimi isn't the end all be all of Spider-Man films.  It's not somebody is coming up and rebooting Lord of the Rings.  Hell, in the comic world there were many different takes on Spider-man sometimes at the same time - Amazing, Spectacular, etc?  Just look at these movies that way.

You know this is my first post and i can see zac efron as spiderman but my first choice would be joseph gordon-levitt, the guy has tallent in my eyes and if you think about he was marc webb's lead guy in his 00 days of summer movie and his performance was pretty good in my eyes, what do you guys think

Hey they could do worse for Peter Parker, but it doesn't matter Bruce Campbell wont be in it so eh...

Jensen Ackles for Captain America!!!

he was runner up for Superman after Brandon

Mr JBE,

I'm pretty open minded about things like different creative teams,

BUT I didn't like the storylines (AND VILLAIN) forced into Spidey 3, and so far I don't like the director they chose, or the rumor of Effron

I maintain that he's too pretty boy ish...needs to be a geek.

I don't think Effron has the chops to pull off the duality and Depth of Peter/Spidey

JMO, I could be wrong and will be the first to admid if I'm wrong about the Brand New Day version of Spidey that is coming out...(after I rent it)

I really hope they get a handle on Spidey and not hollywood it up too much.  But they need a low key Peter Parker.  Spider-man has to be over the top this time around and be funny like in the comics.

gauley, you'll be at the theater with everyone else when this comes out. You know it's true wether you want to admit it or not. If that makes me a jackass so be it but at least I ain't a liar. So yeah I'm still calling bullshit on all you haters, you'll be there even if it's with a frown. I was referring to AFWICK when I made my last comment but since you infused yourself into it I'm including you too. I'll remind you of this if we're still here when this comes out. And we know it won't be any worse than Raimi's last attempt at saving the franchise :->

Oh and you can hate on AVATAR all you want. I love getting into arguments about that movie. That ain't raining on my parade THAT IS my parade and obnoxious is exactly what I was shooting for. Anyway now that AVATAR is the biggest hit EVER all the hate from you guys just seems, IS, inconsequential, isignificant and trivial anyway. I can just do like a player that's stomping his opponent into the ground  and point at the scoreboard and laugh, I WIN!!!

I have no problem not watching movies in the theaters anymore.   There was a time when I saw just about every movie in the theater, but that hasn't been the case in quite a while.    The last movies I saw in the theater was The Hangover and Star Trek.  I was dragged to Star Trek or I would have waited for the Blu-ray release, and watched it at home.    If the cast of High School Musical is transplanted into the Spidey films, I really have no issue skipping it, totally.   Then again I don't read the Spiderman comics regularly.

My time can be valuable to me, even though I waste a lot of it.  When it comes to a movie I have little interest in seeing, I may not want to risk my time on it.  The propsed Efron casting would make me not want to risk my time on it, because I know going in, I would be against the actor.   They should probably just hold auditions and cast an unknown who can act.  The character Spiderman is the draw, you don't have to have a big star when the character can bring the bucks anyway.

joemoon, I too like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but he may be a bit too old if they are going to do a return to high school.  I think his acting in the Lookout was better than 500 Days of Summer.

Wise,

I can't hate on Avatar, cause I liked it... I was just sayin...

AND I MOST CERTAINLY WON'T be in the theater if this looks ANYTHING like Spidey 3(SonySpidey)

I will wait til I read Maniacs reviews, or perhaps a little bird will "share" it with me

After the Horrible Wolverine movie, I'm not sure I can keep just going to any comic movie....

SO you'renot a liar, you just don't know me...

As of what I know right now, I'm boycotting this spidey picture...

Zac Efron AND Vanessa Hudgens?!? What's next, they go back to opening the movie with "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"?? This casting rumor is just adding more dread to what Sony is doing to Spider-Man.

I'll admit, I was stunned when I first heard of Heath Ledger as Joker or RDJ as Iron Man. But both choices were backed by great directors and studios that appeared not to have meddled TOO much into the creative process. But THIS...well, it's been bitched about enough already on Mania. Suffice it to say, it would have to be THE Trailer of Trailers to get me to watch the kind of movie this is turning into.
