Sony Pictures has released a new trailer (or video as they call it) for Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man 2. Below you can witness the “Rise of Electro”. I am huge Spider-Man fan and this trailer/ video does nothing for me. How long until Disney gets Spider-Man?

Press Release: When Electro rises, Spider-Man's greatest enemies will unite. Will Peter Parker pay the ultimate price to be the hero he is destined to become?
The Plot: In the 2014 sequel, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Sally Field and Chris Cooper.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives May 2nd, 2014.

Don't know why there's so much hate for this movie. I think it looks better than the former adaptation.  I can't wait to see it!  More excited for this than most this year.

I keep reading remarks like...I can't wait until Disney gets Spiderman and/or X-Men back.  Is there any way of finding out how long Fox and Sony have the rights to these characters or are those contracts top secret?

Did anyone ever consider that Disney / Marvel doesn't want them back...they still have plenty of characters left to base blockbuster movies on...and maybe those contracts are very lucrative.

I'm not into this Spiderman franchise...not a fan of the 30 year old, Englishman / Californian,  Andrew Garfield.

I think it looks great. Really looking forward to this BIG TIME. If it wasn't for Captain America TWS and my top film of the year GUARDIANS  OF  THE  GALAXY this would be  the film I'd be talking the most about

As for Marvel getting the rights back I think those contracts don't have a time limit as long as they keep churning movies out, giving Marvel their share and paying Marvel their yearly licensing fees. They didn't think DD, Punisher or Ghost Rider were worth it but X-Men and Spidey are money makers. Fantastic Four I think totally depends on this next film, even if it's just a borderline hit Fox keeps the rights

Wiseguy 2/25/2014 4:48:30 AM

I've always maintained that other companies having these rights isn't all bad. Marvel is only going to make so many movies a year. Having Fox and Sony holding characters adds to the amount of Marvel films we get. Yeah maybe they'll never get to appear together but I'm partially ok with that especially when it comes to X-Men and the rest of the MU.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium 2/25/2014 11:19:31 AM

Exactly my point, Wise. But people argue all the time that it doesn't matter. That they'll just churn out more superhero movies then. Which they won't. No studio is going to oversatuarate the market like that. Those people don't know shit.

Electro's suit should at least been green and gold. Not Black !

The Goblin looks like crap once again. Why can't they get it right?

Spidey looks cool - but that's about it.

From what I understand,  all the licenses for the characters are on a "Use or Lose It" basis.  They have to produce movies or the rights revert back to Marvel.  Thats what happened to Daredevil.  So thats why FOX & Sony spit out these movies without putting any real effort into them.

It looks like they are going with the Ultimate version of Electro or at least the Ultimate Spiderman Cartoon version.  Looks almost Identical to that one.

How can u be a spiderman fan and say tyhis trailer does nothing for you Robert?? Are u running a fever maybe?? did someone kick u in the nuts?? r u retarded??  Because this movie looks like it rocks all over the place!!!  LOL

I mean its got electro.. a brand new villan being played by an academy award winner!!   Its got Rhino being played by another award winner!!! and its got probably the best CGI fight scenes i have seen in a long time for a spidey film!!!  which i think already blows away the entire first three Maguire/Rami movies.. IMO

AND  i am a HUGE spidey fan!!  Bigger than u Rob.. im sure!!  lol

BUT  only time will tell because the trailers always look good

momitchell7 2/25/2014 2:46:17 PM

I was gonna say what Jonniej just said... Really?!  This trailer does nothing for you, Rob? It looks freaking AWESOME!!!

The VFX look spectacular - I've never seen "lightning" look that cool in a movie.
