20th Century Fox has unleashed a full new trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes courtesy of Yahoo Movies. Check it out in the video player down below and sound off. The film will star James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox, Tom Felton and David Oyelowo. Helmer Rupert Wyatt led the direction based on a screenplay by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa. Peter Jackson's WETA was charged with the special effects of the simians.

Plot Concept: Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of "Avatar" and "Lord of the Rings" is breaking new ground, creating a CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes swings into theaters August 5, 2011.

Thanks to raa2001 and Chopsaki for the submission.

A whole lot of potential for a great film. I hope it doesn't fail.

First planet of the apes movie the one with Walberg very very shitty. This one could be amazing....

Saw the full trailer tonight w/X-Men. I gotta admit, when I first read/heard about it months ago, I was skeptical. And with a few months still to tighten up some of the cgi, i still have reservations, but the idea of a shetload of monkees apes and gorillas going, pun intended, apeshet against cops and civilians looked pretty flippin sweet.

and while the Funkybunch was indeed funky, those apes had some of the best makeup ever. Plus, Tim Roth is crazy.

This actually looks like it might be very good. I hope it lives up to the trailer.

On another note...Still no reviews of Game of Thrones. Hello! Give us the proper forum to discuss this show...it is Incredible, incredible, incredible.

So far... I am very curious. This has great potential.

Still not convinced. With Hollywood's track record of these things, I'm still very skeptical. We'll see, or not!

The CGI looks ok but, gotta give credit to Tim Burton's take on his apes, they looked more reall then any other apes in any movies.

This one looks ok but, obviously seems to have nothing related to the original movies.

I'm impressed with everything they have released so far of this film.  I hate to admit that I did enjoy the Walberg Planet of the Apes.  But I grew up with the originals so I am happy with any attempt at a great Apes film.

krathwardroid 6/3/2011 7:08:29 AM

Apes kickin' ass. I like it.

Wow, I expected a lot of positive posts than I've read today all over.  Not as much hate as a few months ago but that is a pretty decent trailer.  If that doesn't make you want to see it nothing will.
