The SCI FI Channel has announced that principal photography began last week in Aukland, New Zealand on the cabler's adaptation of the first book in Philip Jose Farmer's RIVERWORLD series, TO YOUR SCATTERED BODIES GO.
The coming two-hour RIVERWORLD telefilm is being co-produced by Alliance Atlantis with Tasman Films and Box TV. Created with an eye towards it being a back-door TV series pilot, the film is being executive produced by Alex Proyas (DARK CITY, THE CROW).
The film will star Brad Johnson, Emily Lloyd and Cameron Daddo. Kari Skogland is helming the production with a script by Stuart Hazeldine.
The RIVERWORLD series of books explores the concept of an unexpected afterlife where every person who ever lived on Earth, who after dying, find themselves young and healthy again on a new world. Everyone who ever lived wakes up in this new life on the banks of one long, continuous river created by beings of great power whose motives are a mystery. Humanity forms new group cultures along the river's banks, while there are some who travel the waterway in an attempt to learn the secrets of its creation.
