Rob Zombie Not Remaking C.H.U.D?

There seems to be some confusion this past week as to whether Rob Zombie is directing the remake of C.H.U.D. It all began when Billboard published the rumor earlier in the week. After that initial report, Johnny Butane over at Dread Central confirmed the rumor stating that he talked to Rob personally and it was confirmed that he would be directing this remake of the 80's cult-horror film. Now, Brad over at Bloody Disgusting and Ryan over at STYD are  both stating that Rob Zombie's camp insist this is a rumor and that Zombie was never interested in remaking this film.

For their part, Dread Central is standing behind their news that Rob did confirm he was directing this remake.

There you have it. Definite confusion going on as to whether Rob is involved with this flick or not. One party says they have a confirmation while other parties insist that Rob's not involved. Until another confirmation is made on this film from Zombie himself, this bit of news will be treated as a rumor.

I'd say this confusion is a result of execs who have Zombie under contract having one idea about how that contract is going to work, and Zombies camp having another (i.e. they want Zombies name attached). As I said earlier, Zombies style would not be a good fit for CHUD... man if only they could get Zach Snyder!

This is a good thing. There's got to be a better director open for this remake. I think Zombie needs to work on something original for once and make a name for himself outside of remakes. And prove (at least to me) that he can direct and make a movie worth watching.

well that saves one movie from being crapped on by the King of Trailer Park Cinema.

You are a bigot, superfrank78 and a fucking tard!

Let me count. He has made THREE films...ONE OF THEM A REMAKE....Hmmm, you might need to go back to H.S buddy!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
IN YOUR FACE Zombie bashers!
Looks like he isn't a hypocrite after all. AND Wiseguy, I agree with you on lots, but really he has done 2 original movies.
I liked them, I know a lot of people didn't but they were great horror films. One of the reasons I liked them so much is they showed a different range (of horror flicks) One was Texas Chainsaw massacre style, the other Helter Skelter style. I like Zombies flicks.

you are right- I am a bigot when it comes to crappy rehashed movies.
House of 1000 Corpses aka Zombie version of Texas Chainsaw
Devil's Rejects aka Zombie version of Motel Hell/Cannibals
Halloween aka Zombie version of a white trash trailer park family living in middle class america and taking a big crap on John Carpenter's head.
So how about you go back to school jackass.

Nice comeback! I have no clue what to say to you, now...Wow... I am amazed by your language skils...

I think you are the one doing a fine job at making youself look like the jackass by labeling people white trash and rednecks.....

Considering how much passion you seem to exhibit for Rob Zombie- you are either Rob himself or Sherry Moon...because with all the great directors and filmmakers out there you choose to argue for a less than average guy whose movies have grossed under 50 million total at the the box office.
Please tell me you at least get this excited for John Carpenter or hell I'll even give you Rodriguez or Tarantino to get this hot over...or you like Eli Roth and Uwe Boll too?(other pretenders)

What does it matter how much money he brings in for his movies? He aviously makes it back himself and just because he does not use $150mil dollar budget for a movie that you could make with $15mil, does not mean he is less talented.

I stick up for the guy because like I have posted, I am a fan of horror movies and I think he is a fresh face on the genre that seems to die every year!

Carpenter is one of my favorite directors of all time, I own every one of his movies as long with Tarantino's and Rodriguez. I like these guys because THEY are the ones who use THEIR own money half the time for movies they believe in. These guys are renegades of the film industry and have always made FUN movies!

And what is SOOOO wrong with liking these guys as directors? Just because I dont worship other directors like a lot of people on this site do, does not mean I have less taste. I would rather watch a Tarantino, Rodriguez, Zombie and Carpenter film over ANYONE else's ANYDAY!

The Shining,The Excorcist,Nightmare on Elm St,Night of the Living Dead,Halloween,Escape from New York,Kill Bill,Desperado....these are movies.
Zombie is shock porn not horror...horrible yes-horror no. Please do not include his name with those creative minds- you could make a Rob Zombie movie, for that matter everyone can. It is porn and torture mixed together to try and shock you. Just rent 'Faces of Death' then, it's much better and more shocking with absolutely the same amount of plot...zero.
