Rob Zombie Remaking C.H.U.D?

A few months ago, Zombie said he wouldn't necessarily be directing more horror films for the remaining two films of his Dimension contract. He has also indicated on numerous occasions a desire to work on his own story concepts instead of remakes like his recent Halloween adaptation. Apparently, his outlook on the future has changed. According to the latest news from Dread Central, Rob has a new horror remake on the near horizon, this time from the 80's era of cult classics. The director has been charged with remaking the 80's cult film C.H.U.D, aka Cannibalistic Human Underground Dweller, for Dimension Films.

Old Plot Concept: A rash of bizarre murders in New York City seems to point to a group of grotesquely deformed vagrants living in the sewers. A courageous policeman, a photo journalist and his girlfriend, and a homeless man band together to put a stop to the cannibalistic creatures.

Why doesn't he try a remake of Jaws while he's at it? Or is he waiting for Speilberg to die?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Failure. Utter failure. Zombie has proven uncreative at best with his own ventures and tarnished the reputation of Halloween by creating an unnecessary remake. I liked C.H.U.D. more when he wasn't involved with it in any way, and I'd like to keep it that way. Fuck you, Rob Zombie. Stop fucking things up.

Let me guess: CHUD #1 tortures someone. CHUD #2 rapes someone. CHUD #3 is misunderstood. CHUD #4 has sex with his mother CHUD. Daddy CHUD has sex with daughter CHUD. CHUD #5 rapes AND tortures someone. CHUD #6 is abused at home and at school and becomes an even more vicious CHUD! Meanwhile, all of the "victims" scream at the top of their lungs throughout the whole mess. Also, don't forget to shake the camera continuosly! Wow, what a film maker he is! THE END

I think ROb Zombie makes decent movies,,,,I mean the guy has made 3 so far...he doesn't excatly have a prolific carrer yet. I think a remake of CHUD would be very cool. They could really update it and make it kick ass

I like Rob Zombie and I loved CHUD when I was a kid, but I kinda agree with some earlier posts... CHUD, like Dawn of the Dead, is the kind of intense horror movie that could survive an update, the concept is damn scary and a new look could till capture that intensity, so the CHUD I would want would be intense, relentless and damn scary... Zombie doesn't make those kind of films. Rob tends to make movies that focus on the old "disturb the audience" horror, trying to scare people with scenes that drag out the torture and are hard to watch, he also as pointed out in post #5 tries to sympathize with his protagonists (Devils Rejects, Halloween) and focuses on the cops being the bad guys. I don't want a CHUD where we feel sorry for the cannibals and the cop is running around gunning down unarmed baby CHUDS, who were just trying to help....

madmaniac999,

You hit the nail on the head...I would rather CHUD be exactly what it needs to be...a scary movie with no regard of why they became what they became, only that they are what they are, and we don't need to care/sympathize with them....

let them eat....!

I personally think that Rob Zombie is doing a great job in directing. I mean his movies aint like ohhhhhh crap you gotta see it, but they are fun to watch. I havent seen Halloween yet though but I heard it was pretty decent. The only thing that got me is that I could have sworn he said that he wasnt going to do a sequel to Halloween and that he was not going to do any more remakes. I dont mind remakes at all. I really dont know whats the beef with remakes with alot of people. I can name quite a few remakes that came out really damn good (scarface, the thing etc.) as long as they come out good then its all good in my book. If he change his mind about remakes then cool I have a feeling its going to come out well. I will wait and see. GO ZOMBIE DO YOUR THING. Some of you people ask for too much remember not every freaking movie are oscars winners. :-)

CHUD could use a remake but not Zombie.
As in every one of his films there will be a white trash family,a mom who is a stripper, a bad southern dialect within this major urban city,a daughter who is slutty and a druggie,an abusive white trash man will get eaten by a CHUD,the CHUD will be engaged in incest throughout and of course his wife will star in it and suck as usual.
