Director Rob Zombie has posted an image of the homicidal Michael Myers on the MySpace page for the upcoming remake of Halloween.

The film's synopsis: After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, is mistakenly released from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.

The film is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters on August 31, 2007.

KJ's Take:  Looks identical to the original.  I actually have high hopes for this film and this image just reassures that.

How does the image reassure your high hopes? I am actually sick to death of remakes. I love movies....cannot get enough of them....but it is getting to much when you have to remake rehash or update a movie. I do not think Rob Zombie has the chops to direct a great remake of Halloween. I just do not get how one picture (that looks exactly like it should look) gets you excited about this? I better prepare for the remakes of: Critters, Hellraiser, Child's Play, The Thing, Alien, Home Alone, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Terminator.

So Original.

collector, the thing was already a remake ! So Carpenter have the rigth to do but not Zombie !!! Who know s maybe he will do a good job and like the thing, we will forget the original in few years....

We will never forget the original.

Still, I like this latest photo. Dude is tall.

He's apparently 27 in this Remake where as he's 23 in the Carpenter Halloween.

Just put up a poll in our "Official Halloween" discussion over at the General Movie Forum in regards to this photo.

how?

awesome cinematography.

it's damn creepy.

he looks perfect.

I already love the feel/tone Zombie seems to be going for.

That's how!

Hey, Dude creeps me out. As long as Zombie keeps that tone for the movie, it should be pretty sweet. Believe me I`m getting tired of remakes too, but they have been remaking movies for decades, and I don`t see them going away anytime soon. So, enjoy the good one and loathe and detest the bad ones.
Devil`s Rejects was a cool flick. Rob has a great eye for this type of genre. Have some faith.

I'm tired of people saying how tired they are of remakes.... what if this kicks ass, lord knows The Hills Have Eyes did... give it a chance.... have you seen the Devil's Regects.... This is Rob frickin Zombie people... Jesus, if we're not complaining about sequels, it's prequels, if it's not prequels it's it's remakes... it get's old... we get it .... remakes bad... I'm down.. GO MIKEY!

Amen! Life is too short to complain about everything. There are enough movies for everyone. If you don't like the remakes see the "originals" when they come out.

Image looks good. I'm tired of the whole remake discussion. I'm trying to take them on a case by case basis. I think Zombie will bring a unique vision to the Halloween franchise. I'm hoping Zombie puts a good spin on Carpenter's theme!

I agree that there are too many remakes, but if your so tired write your own original screen play send it to hollywood. Then when we get the news here we will bitch how its unoriginal and a rip off it is. Besides not all remakes are bad, Hills have eyes was good, but Psycho bad. Just like many things in life there are good things and bad!

I think Rob is copping out with his "remake" or his "reimagining" of "Halloween"; why is he making Michael Myers look the same? If he TRULY wants to be original, give him a different look. He's not "reimagining" the concept, he's just riding on the public's familiarity with the character to line his own pockets: even Carpenter "reimagined" The Thing and his storyline.
