Dimension Films has announced that a new HALLOWEEN movie will be made with Rob Zombie writing, directing, and producing. Zombie will also be serving as the music supervisor for the film.

"I have been a huge, huge fan of John Carpenter's original film since its release. So when Bob Weinstein approached me about this, I jumped at the chance to join forces with Dimension Films on this amazing project," said Zombie.

Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, made the announcement saying, "Rob Zombie is a gifted musician and performer as well as a talented filmmaker. His vision for this new HALLOWEEN is spectacular and I am thrilled to be collaborating with him and to work closely with Malek Akkad (producer) to continue the legacy built by his father, the late Moustapha Akkad."

Zombie's version of the film is said to be a totally new take on the legend and will not be a copycat of previous films. Dimension is aiming for an October 2007 release for the film.

After seeing Devils rejects,I have to say this is a good idea. This guy is just hitting his stride(rob Z.)and I think he'll do a good job.

I totaly agree. The horror industry needs more imaginative people like Zombie. This is a movie I'll look forward to.

Hey, as long as it's a continuation and not a reboot or a remake, I'm down.

Interesting to see RZ getting involved with an established horror franchise.

So does this mean that the rumored Michael Myers vs. Pumpkinhead concept is officially scrapped?

This is great news. This is just what the franchise needs. Im a big R Zombie fan, and this will be cool

"Rob Zombie is a gifted musician..."

Well, so the soundtrack's going to be comprised of mediocre Casio-metal drum machine crapola. Whoopty shit...

Can we stop making sequels to everything mandatory, especially burnt-out franchises???

Haven't seen Devil's Reject yet though its buried down the list in my Netflix queue. However, House of 10,000 Corpses absolutely sucked. Like a really bad Texas Chainsaw ripoff. There really hasn't been a good Halloween movie since the original, so why not give Rob a chance on it and see what he can do. I bet the first move he'll make is casting his wife.

Not a big fan(don't hate them either) of Devils Rejects or "Corpses" but understand many love them. I do think those were good training ground for him.
So I'm cautiously optimistic for a good Halloween film. I just want a continuation and not reboot or reimagination.
