Tim Robbins won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for MYSTIC RIVER early this year, and now he's won a role in director Jon Favreau's film adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's children's book, ZATHURA. Robbins will play dad to the two young boys whose house rockets them into space and the requisite "intergalactic adventures."
Columbia Pictures first developed ZATHURA as a sequel to 1995's JUMANJI (also a Van Allsburg book) before letting the big Z stand alone as its own picture. The pic also picked up ex-DreamWorks topper Michael De Luca as producer alongside existing producer Bill Teitler. Script was written by David Koepp (SECRET WINDOW), John Kamps (THE BORROWERS), and Eric Fogel (CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH). Shooting is scheduled to start in August.
