Robert J Sawyer on TV
A new book, a literary residency, and a TV appearance...tonight!
By Chris Wyatt
February 25, 2003
With Hugo buzz already circling last year's HOMINIDS
, Canadian SF author Robert J Sawyer has a hell of a lot on his plate. Out now in from TOR Books is both the paperback edition of HOMINIDS
, as well as the hardcover premiere of the follow up, HUMANS
In addition, tonight
Sawyer will be joining a discussion of the impact of potential alien contact on the world's organized religions. The appearance will come this evening at 8:00 PM, on Canada's Vision TV network, as part of the "Test of Faith" program, hosted by Valerie Pringle. The author will appear alongside Vatican Astronomer Chris Corbally. Sawyer, whose fiction can be described as aggressively anti-theistic, will likely offer Corbally a spirited debate.
Also, Sawyer was recently honored as the writer in residence at the Toronto Public Library's "Merril Collection of Science Fiction". As part of his duties, this summer Sawyer will be holding one-on-one hour-long consultations, open to all upcoming writers and members of the public.
If that weren't enough, TOR recently announced that the release date of HYBRIDS
(Sawyer's next book after HUMANS
) has been moved up to this September, so that it can be debuted at the 2003 World Con, which is being held in Sawyer's hometown of Toronto.
All Sawyer fans are invited to the "Book Launch Party" of HUMANS
to be held this Friday (February 28th) in Rochester, New York at the bookstore "Writers and Books" (750 University Ave).Questions? Comments? Let us know what you think at firstname.lastname@example.org.
