Relax, all... It looks fine!
On a related "remake" note, I finally got around to watching the Total Recall remake last night and I thought it was pretty awesome! What in the world was all the hate surrounding that movie about?! I thought it was VERY well done...
momitchell7- I can't speak for all of course, but my personal problem with the Total Recall remake was that I was lied to. In all the build-up leading to the movie, the filmmakers insisted in every interview that despite the title, this was not in fact a remake of the Arnold Swarzeneger movie, but a new movie based on the Phillip K. Dick story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale. This was a blatant lie. It wasn't an adaptation of the PKD story. It was just a remake of the earlier film.
btw, people that picture is not the real Robocop, the real OCP Robocop looks way better, i am hoping though for a ED-209-,EM-208, and Robocop sbowdown at some point. damn i hope so..
What made the design of the ED-209 cool was the fact it was more of an ostrich-ish droid that looked like it had a cockpit for a possible pilot, instead of being a generic humanoid Ironman/C3PO/Cylon and anything else reminiscient of everything that's already been done. These production designers need to get back on the drugs. Expand your minds, think out of the box, guys!
BTW, the original didn't have arms that could holds guns. It's arms WERE guns! Badass.

Its not a "rip off" of anything. Any armored robot looking guy is going to look similar to another armored robot looking guy that came before. There is only so much you can do to change it and still look decent on human anatomy. Calling rip off is idiotic.
