We're kidding about the hand... right?

I think this looks great but it doesn't so much look like a re-make as it does a re-imagining... It looks like the only similarity to the original is that it's a human/machine cop and the designs are similar, but the story seems completely different - from the trailer, that is.

"RoboCop features Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and Samuel L. Jackson."

What a cast!

The original actually had a fairly decent plot line that made sense in the world they created...it wasn't something on a global scale, it wasn't something on a national scale. It was just something on a city scale. Corrupt Executives entangled in corporate politics over a city project.

I have no idea why they are taking this route with it, I kinda like what they are doing, making it their own.. but they are taking it some place that isn't needed.

goodness... that's like saying Attack of the Clones sucked on the basis of Anakin's bionic hand looking awkward. I can only take that kind of criticism seriously if it was revealed the maker of such a remark was a professional makeup/clothing designer on movie sets. Otherwise, it just sounds like nerds who complain for the sake of complaining because complaining is more popular, or because they think by naysaying they'll be taken more seriously. Whiiiiine....

As I've said before, I'm hoping this is really good and I'm looking forward to seeing it.  I'm a huge fan of the original (own the Blu-Ray) and I tend to be very skeptical of remakes/reboots, but I've been anticipating this since they first announced it like six years ago when it was supposed to have a 2009 release.

I saw the preview, and I still have to ask why?

What's the point?

Is there any compelling reason to do a remake?

My money is tight enough without having to subsidize Hollywood's lack of creaivity and originality.

The question remains, "Would you buy that for a dollar?"
