WOW, this big. Maybe there will be a chance this will acually be good and not suck.

The Hollywood Reporter has a new blurb out with some new updates regarding the big picture adaptation of the Robotech. The 1980's adaptation of three different anime series into English which ran for 85 episodes has taken on Alfred Gough and Miles Millar as the new scribes for it after the previous treatment by Lawrence Kasdan. Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello. Gough and Millar are expected to be able to ensure a good action adaptation while also providing the right nods for the geek fanset that has become intimately familiar with the property in the last twenty plus years. The duo are more recently known for their work on the "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" and "Spider-Man 2" as well as being the showrunners on TV's "Smallville" for many years.

Being a fan of all things Robotech, I'm chomping at the bit for this movie. With good writers on board and with Tobey Maguire (who is a big Robotech fan) producing, I have a good vibe about this project.
I've been a huge Robotech fan since the 80s and think this could be awesome. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Another step towards the Robotech dream movie!
