What They Say
Fifteen years of peace are shattered when a new invasion force - the Robotech Masters - wage war against the Earth's struggling survivors. The victor's prize is control of the mysterious Protoculture Matrix - the secret powerhouse of Robotechnology.

A whole new cast of heroes and villains re-invigorate the powerful story of intergalactic war and personal drama that has made Robotech one of the most enduring science fiction adventures of all time.

The Review!
The second saga of Robotech is here. Known as Southern Cross in Japan, the Robotech Masters Saga features some of the coolest mecha in Robotech I have ever seen.

Audio: Mono fun for all!

Video: You'll notice that Southern Cross has better animation then Macross. This will make it more fun to watch.

Packaging: Not as glamorous as the Macross DVD's, but it's nice to see some rough sketch drawing. I just don't like that white background.

Menus: We get a new opening for the menu system featuring the Robotech Masters observing the earth. They still look the same though.

Extras: No extras! Hey, it's a bargain. Stop whining.

Content: Time for some more Robotech fun in the next generation of the RDF. Fresh faces, new mecha, new enemies.

It's been 15 years since Kyron rammed his ship into the SDF-1, wiping out a good number of people. The new RDF includes Dana Sterling, daughter of Max and Myria with an afro, who becomes a lieutenant. Also included is Bowie Grant, uncle of Claudia Grant, Angelo, who I should note was also the voice of Sanders on 08th MS Team, and the mecha expert Louie.

Through these first six episodes, Dana ends up getting into a lot of trouble, but somehow manages to save the day. She slowly forms a good relationship with Bowie. Soon, Dana realizes just how brutal war is and grows up fast. The disc basically displays on how Dana and her troops of the 15th Armored Attack Squad of Veritechs are able to take down the huge Robotech Master's ship.

Overall, these episodes have more action and mecha than that of the Macross saga. So if you want lots of fighting and less kissy face moments, Robotech Masters saga is a perfect portion of the Robotech legacy.
