The Rock as CAPTAIN MARVEL or BLACK ADAM?

While doing a press tour for his upcoming sports/family film, THE GAME PLAN, Robert Sanchez had a chance to ask Dwayne Johnson (formerly known as "The Rock") about his thoughts on the project. It seems clear from sources involved with the production that the actor is attached and playing a part in decisions made on the upcoming adaptation of SHAZAM. Recently, scribe John August turned in the first draft of the superhero to the studio.

From the video interview, there is still a question on which character Dwayne will be portraying in the film, Captain Marvel or his nemesis Black Adam. As it turns out, neither August nor Johnson should be making that decision according to the actor. He wants the fans of the comic hero to decide which role he takes in the adaptation.

I'd like to see The Rock play Captain Marvel, but he'd probably make a kick ass Black Adam. Hmmm....i'm kind of torn. Hell, why doesn't he just do what Eddie Murphy does and play multiple roles. Just play both characters! All jokes aside, I'd rather see him as the hero rather than the villian.

I'm sure a lot of fans will think he doesn't fit either role.... but IMO he would be an awesome Captain Marvel or Black Adam.... I think he could have more fun as the bad guy though... the guy can be damn funny when he wants to be. Patrick Warburton would make an awesome Captain Marvel.... if they are still amking this a comedy.

I think Johnson would make a better Black Adam. I've always thought of Captain Marvel as Billy Batson, just with super powers; somewhat naive and looking at the world through a child's eyes. Johnson doesn't have that look, but I can really see him playing an evil Black Adam easily.

Personally I would like to see Dwayne Johnson succeed in film and have a life after WWF or I'm sorry...'E' (it will always be WWF to me)
I don't really know anything about Black Adam, but as long as he's got a good script and director I'm in.

Oh, and if you haven't checked out the Southland Tales trailer...do it!

Please dont let this 3 nippled fashion model be either of these characters. He is not that good of an actor. And both ADAM and MARVEL are two of the pastiest Honkey crackers ever to be in comics. Is Dwayne gonna take some reverse Soul Man pills. I dont know why I am even bothering to bitch. The plot is already a complete load of shit if its the same synopsis as before. The screenwritwriters will probably make Batson and Adam friends from Kindergarten who get mad about getting the last cookie for nap time.

Now I know Im gonna get ripped for this but Mark Messier would fit Captain Marvel perfectly or even Bruce Willis. It could be like THE KID remade with Super Powers.

This movies make kids think if their parents die they will get visited by a wizard who will give them super powers.

A dual role would be terrible, there is about a 15 year difference at least between the 2.

Keep Dwayne away from this and let the Rock fans enjoy the movie where he adopts a daughter to let his football team abuse.

I think The Rock is perfect for Captain Marvel. He does a good job of having that playful, childlike aspect in contrast to his impressive physicality. While I would like to see him explore a darker side at some point, I don't think this is where he should do that.

I would put him in the role as Black Adam.
and Brandon Molale as Captian Marvel because he looks the part and the fact that he's not a big hollywood star.

Black Adam without a doubt. Yes, Adam was originally a white man but that's because back when he was concieved you just didn't have black characters in comics. But he was originally an Egyptian and Johnson's complexion is perfect for that particular ethnicity.

As for Captain Marvel I still think Patrick Warburton would be perfect.
