"The Rock" Discusses SHAZAM!

ComingSoon.net is reporting that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is having discussions about possibly starring in the big screen version of SHAZAM!

During a set visit for GET SMART, Johnson told CS.net ""Listen, John August is writing the script and he's a tremendous writer, and I'll just wait for the script to come in. But I'd love to work with Pete (Segal) again, and certainly would want to work with John August. So there's a strong possibility."

Johnson also addressed wearing tights for the role and said, "Well, knowing Pete, he'd update it and make it fresh."

He's big. But I don't see him pulling off "wholesome" and, if Captain Marvel is anything, he's the true "goodie two-shoes" of DC heroes. As Batman put it so succinctly to Superman in JLU -

Superman "I thought I was the Boy Scout?"
Batman "You were until I met Captain Marvel."

Ahhh! I actually booted the idea back over a month ago when this news of a SHAZAM movie broke my friend. ;-)

But The Rock is PERFECT for this role, TOTALLY PERFECT!

Now who to play Black Adam?! Any guesses?

I don't know...I think Johnson's got a happy go-lucky demeanor to him...he could pull this off.

This is a bad casting choice all around, whether he is playing Black Adam or Shazam!!! What a bad mistake--this will kill the movie!!!

Excellent casting!! Johnson has the charm and humor needed to pull off the role of a child trapped in an adult body.

While I don't mind "The Rock" as much as the next guy, I still say that Captain Marvel would best be portrayed by Patrick Warburton, and make all of the Puddy or Tick references you like. He's got the larger than life chin (even more than Bruce Campbell) and the goofy voice to pull off the boyscout of the JLA.
