After starring in a pair of action films, Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson said he was looking for a lighter vehicle to showcase his comedic talents. It looks like he's found his project with INSTANT KARMA, a new live-action/CGI film set up at New Line Cinema. Johnson will play a safecracker who dies and is reincarnated as different animals, each progressively higher up on the food chain.
The film will feature a host of celebrities appearing in the film humans and providing voices of the various critters The Rock's character interacts with. Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Gene Wilder and the guys from Broken Lizard will supply some of the voices for the CGI animals while Pierce Brosnan, Mira Sorvino, David Alan Grier and Eartha Kitt will play homo sapiens characters.
The $70 million dollar project is the directing debut of Paul Hernandez and he'll be shooting the film from his script, with PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott serving as producers. Digital Domain is onboard to create the CGI visual effects.
