No Rock for MUMMY 3?

It seems that if there is a third MUMMY movie, the Rock should not expect his character from THE MUMMY RETURNS and THE SCORPION KING to make an appearance. That's the word from producer Kevin Misher, who shepherded all three films in the franchise to the screen.
While that might not come as a surprise given The Scorpion King died in THE MUMMY RETURNS, it might surprise those who have seen the weekend cash generated by the prequel KING.
As Misher put it, "Hopefully [THE SCORPION KING] is a film on its own. There was just a sense that you hope you're starting your own franchise, but obviously there's a connectivity to the character that was created. One of the producers of the movie and one of the writers of the movie were obviously the creators of the character and creators of the franchise, so obviously there is a connectivity, but it is its own separate, stand-alone thing now, and hopefully in the movie we give a little bit of a wink and a nod that somewhere down the road there's a sense that we'll explain how he becomes the bad guy... I don't think THE SCORPION KING is going to find himself in a MUMMY movie. Not right away. Because I think it's its own thing right now."
As an aside, let us remind readers both MUMMY stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have said they'd like to steer clear of a third MUMMY installment, but with Universal very interested in more films, expect a lot of money to grease the skids.
