Here is the poster for the upcoming film ROCKY BALBOA.

The next installment of Rocky will be headed back to theaters on December 22, 2006. The movie will be titled ROCKY BALBOA and stars Sylvester Stallone as Rocky.

In the film, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) has now been retired for some time, but hard-up for money, he decides to step back into the ring against a few small-time boxers. Everything changes when Rocky is offered the opportunity to step in with the reigning Heavyweight Champion, Mason "The Line" Dixon. Does Rocky still have what it takes to make another Championship comeback??

The movie is being produced via a three-way deal between Revolution Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM.

"All three partners involved in this project are tremendously excited with this new film and Sony is thrilled to be handling international distribution of the motion picture as well as home entertainment on a worldwide basis," Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution Jeff Blake said.

MGM will be handling domestic distribution for the film.

I turn 32 in two weeks and I stand before you as NEVER HAVING SEEN a Rocky film. I have no major excuse for it, I just somehow never got to see them. (Likewise with Rambo).

But on that note, I admire Stallone for writing and then starring the first Rocky film and the success that it generated. I am anxious to sit down and watch the first one and I am excited to see Stallone returning to this franchise. I think this is great!

I want to say Stallone is too old, but.. well he looks like he`s in pretty good shape. The concept is a little silly, because we always think and discuss who we imagine would win in a fight or game the current guy or the old classic. Ali vs Tyson James vs Jordan Jeter vs Dimaggio. Okay forget, because I WOULD pay money to see Ali vs Tyson.
Brow, I recommend Rocky. Its a great flick, except, Adrian is ugly. I wouldn't fight for her.

LAME!

Why are they calling this movie 'Rocky Balboa'? Because Rocky couldn't count past 5, and neither can the screenwriters.

There has to be a reason for a movie to be made, story-wise, otherwise it's simply an attempt to cash in on a name. Nothing about this plot as written above sounds interesting or exciting, so hopefully there's more to the story than simply old Rocky gets back in the ring one more time. With this and a new Rambo in the works, I'm beginning to feel sorry for old Sly.

I watched the trailer on apple.com and I really like what I saw. The script really provides motivation for Rocky to want to fight again. Is the premise a little silly? probably, but Stallone looks in great shape. I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I was 11 when Rocky came out and grew up watching the character. Hearing Bill Conti's music still thrills the soul.

This may seem like a dumb idea for a movie, but it really isn't. Ali came back as an older man to win back the title and more recently, so did George Foreman when he fought Michael Moore. It's a completely realistic premise, some fighters still think they got it to step up to the young guns so they test their fate. I love the Rocky series, although 5 was a joke, and I think this one may be true to its roots. Count me in!

I Love the Rocky movies, but I really hope he dies in this one. I need some closure on some of the endless 80's sequel runs.
I won't argue with the naysayers, if you don't want to see it, just don't go, do you think complaining about it is going to keep me from going?
