TV Guide's Michael Ausiello has learned that Rodrigo Santoro will join the cast of LOST for the upcoming season.

Ausiello writes, "Lost has found its new mystery man and you're reading about it here first! Rodrigo Santoro, best known to American audiences as the hot dude Laura Linney crushed on in Love Actually, is joining the cast this fall. I know what you're thinking, "Rodrigo... Whatchoo Talkin' 'Bout Willis?" That was my initial reaction, too. Well, the 30-year-old actor may not be a household name here in the States, but there apparently is no bigger movie star in Brazil than him."

His part is listed simply as 'mystery man'.

LOST airs on ABC on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST. It will return in September for 6 episodes and then go on hiatus for 12 weeks before coming back for 17 straight episodes.

Man, I don't care! I just want the season to start already!

Another throw away chracter on what is rapidly becoming a throw away show.

Love the show. He's dead by the end of the next season.

Yes, this is the worst show on t.v. Totally unoriginal and boring! Let`s make room for "quality" shows like Wife Swap, Extreme Makeover, Big Brother, Survivor, American Idol, Nashville Star, and My Obnoxious whatever. Those have real quality and are definitely not "throw away" shows. Let's dumb it up America!

You're a smart guy dragon. It's best to form an opinion about a character before you have any information at all.

The 1st season of Lost was great enough to give the producers the benefit of the doubt on quite a few things. 2nd season had issues, but was still better than 90% of network TV out there. This news will make my wife happy, tho. She & her friends thought he was the shiznit in Love, Actually.

well it's not strange to me that there bringing in a hotbody guy - after season 2 - poor ratings - no emmy's - a dismal season on other shows like desperate housewives, so I see it as there trying to obviously bring in more female viewers.

Lost didn't exactly have poor ratings. It's ratings were down from Season 1, but they weren't poor. And the new emmy system F'ed everything up. House was nominated for best drama, yet Hugh Laurie, the man who basically is the entire show doesn't get a nomination? The emmy's are worthless.

Does anyone else think that 12 weeks off will just totally kill any momentum the show generates? I have high hopes and good confidence that Lost starts its season strong, then its nothing but re-runs and "catch-up" clip shows for THREE months? The season above outlines a 35 week timeframe (6 weeks on, 12 weeks off, 17 weeks on). I'm not an executive or a programmer, but I'd much rather see something like 8 weeks on, 6 off, 8 weeks on, 6 off, and finish with 7 weeks on. I can put up with a month of reruns, then in the 6th and final week, rerun week/episode 8 again before the fresh eps kick back in, and repeat that cycle. I love LOST, but they'll lose my viewership with 12 straight weeks of reruns.

Who here believes that sonofabith will NOT watch LOST when it returns after a 12-week hiatus? What...no hands? Thought so - me neither. Sonofabith will be chewing the couch leather in anticipation of LOST's return...JUST LIKE THE REST OF US!!

FYI - They aren't going to show reruns and clip episodes. They are using LOST to introduce a new series (which in all reality, no one will watch that out of spite).
