Director Roman Polanski will helm the adaptation of THE GHOST, a political thriller based on the Robert Harris novel. The trade reports that Robert Harris will team with Polanski to adapt the story which was published last month by Simon & Schuster. The film is scheduled to begin production early next year by producers Robert Benmussa and Alain Sarde. Summit International will handle the worldwide distribution rights for the thriller.

"I have been looking for a political thriller to direct for some time, and 'The Ghost' could not be more perfect," Polanski said. "Robert has constructed a novel with such suspense, it is hard to put it down."

Plot Concept: Story centers on a ghostwriter who is hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister. He uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.

I really don't see how anyone in their right minds would want to work with a guy who should be behind bars for RAPING A CHILD. Gifted filmmaker or not, he's a crook and refuses to face punishment for his crime. I may want to eventually read the book, but there's no way I will see any film Polanski makes.
