This one screamed for an extended cut. It seemed cut short & muted. Anyone hear how much more is in this?

I'd have to agree with you joey. Though I'm not sure if an extended cut can fix the problems with this film. It's almost blasphemous to say, but the "Dawn of the Dead" remake really puts this Romero effort to shame...

That being said, I'll buy the Unrated Cut version - but I kind of doubt it'll be a cure-all for what was a rather limp theatrical edition. :\

Follow me carefully here.. zombies... do... not... run!

I don't think I'd go so far as to say the Dawn remake was better. But I know how long Romero wanted to get another Dead movie made, and to do it his way, and it looked like he still had his hands tied.

Follow ME carefully here...slow moving zombies...against faster humans with guns...do...not...take...over...the...world!

Romero is a one trick pony whose career is DOA.

While an extended cut is cool, why waste money to see it on a screen (yes I know the feeling of the big screen is different than the small) one time when you just buy the same thing on DVD the next day and watch it as many times as you want?
I could see if the DVD is still a while off...

I for one didnt want another Dawn of the Dead '78 (which was Day of the Dead, handfull of rouge survivors trying to survive with very limited supply of ammo)
Land of the Dead is, for lack of words, what Aliens was to Alien. An "upgrade" from a plot recycled twice before. Romero knew it was getting old retelling the same survival story...yet again!
The changes?
the smart Zombies were.. well.. too smart in certain scenes, but apparantly in Romero's world dead rotting corpses would naturally evolve and learn to think and shoot machine guns... right? (well no.. I dont think they would) but they did anyway. ;)

And in Romero's little zombie utopia, Dennis Hopper would still be a fat cat, rich dickhead asshole. Its nice to see the human race really hasnt changed all that much after being brought to its knees by a living dead zombie infestation!

Heavily Armed munitions brigade, well I could see this happening slowly over time, a lot of people would have to be sacraficed needlessly for all that massive munitions, weapons cache to be rounded up (thats the movie I wanted to see)

and I guess in Romero's vision of the future, we would rebuild a utopia and once again live under "The Man" because we're stupid and dont know any other solution... oh, well we could always trek off to Canada in a big fortified truck with firecrackers on it.
