Rick Baker back to MEN IN BLACK

Legendary special makeup effects guru Rick Baker did an in-depth interview with Hero Complex about his recent work on The Wolfman (and his disappointment with that project).

In the interview he reveals that he's starting work on Men in Black 3. Baker created numerous makeup effects for the first two movies in the Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones franchise.

More on Jamie Bell as SPIDER-MAN

Bleeding Cool followed up on their rumor that actor Jamie Bell was pretty much locked for Marc Webb's new Spider-Man movie, revealing some of the information that's been given them, while declining to name their sources.

Apparently Bell is in California this week. Reportedly he's doing some additional camera tests and working with a personal trainer to make sure he's in web-slinging shape for the production. Bleeding Cool claims this is all pretty much a formality and its presumed that these steps will not present hurdles to the actor actually signing.

BC also claims that Josh Hutcherson (Red Dawn, Cirque du Freak) was eliminated from the running due to a scheduling conflict. Sony is apparently keeping newcomer Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) in orbit just in case something goes terribly wrong with Bell, but for all intents and purposes sources claim Bell has the part.

Is Rosamund Pike up for Emma Frost in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

The ForcesOfGeek website claims to have inside information about casting on the X-Men: First Class movie.

Their unnamed sources tell them that actress Rosamund Pike has had a screen test for the movie. You've seen Pike in such movies as Doom and Die Another Day. She had a very prominent role in last year's comic adaptation Surrogates.

Pike was apparently spotted in or near the offices of casting director Lucinda Syson. Now we don't know for sure that Syson is the casting director on First Class, but she did work for producer/director Matthew Vaughn previously on Snatch, Stardust and Kick-Ass.

The anonymous scooper also claims that Pike was carrying a copy of X-Men Origins: Emma Frost #1.

What do you think, Maniacs? Should Emma Frost be in the X-MEN: FIRST CLASS? If so, is Pike a good casting choice? She sure looks the part in the various photos found online!

She was good in Die Another Day and ran circles around Halphonse Ed Berry but that ain't sayin much. Iam waitin for Lesi Lohan to be cast as sumthin or mother or in Worst class. The story needs to be connected to Dr Kevorkian's machine.

I'd be all over Pike as Frost. Seems like perfect casting.

TheDrow 6/9/2010 7:46:24 AM

Frost is a cool character but if they're doing a first class movie she has no business being in it.

That said if they insist on adding her Pike seems like a good fit. Certainly hot enough.

Wiseguy 6/9/2010 8:07:00 AM

Pike is sexy as hell. I'm all for her to play Frost. Wasn't that her name as well in that Bond film? Something Frost.

But yeah, if they're doing First Class Frost has no business here. But going by history they're not going by chronological order of the introduction of characters

Also a vast improvement over the ugly duckling that played Frost in Wolverine

goldenkey 6/9/2010 8:37:36 AM

the only way I see her in the movie is she in on Magneto's side.  They are not using the Hellfire Club, or maybe they are.  They need to do something fresh with Magneto.  I don't care if it's first class or not, Magneto has been the villian in 2 of 3 X-men movie and and was still in all 3.  Time to use another bad guy damn it. . The X-men have such a good gallery of bad guys.  The Hellfire Club makes the most sense if they want to have a good team on team fight.  The Hellions vs the X-men.

Wiseguy, I totally forgot that Emma Frost was in "Wolverine" (probably because that movie sucked and I've blocked it from my memory).  Thanks for the reminder.  I think Pike would make an excellent Emma Frost.

I love Pike, but if Fox is doing an X-Men reboot and going back to when Xavier and Magneto were still friends, isn't Pike a little old to play Frost (who would be a kid)? The more of Pike I can see on screen the better because she's just incredibly gorgeous and a pretty good actress to boot, but I really don't understand what Fox is doing with the X franchise. I really hope we get facts instead of conjecture pretty soon so the fog can get lifted. Alos, glad to hear Fox is rebooting FF and maybe actually getting serious about making a quality movie. Personally, I enjoyed the first FF movies as just fun summer popcorn films, but it would be great to really see the FF get a first-class treatment. With the sci-fi aspects and the family/interprsonal aspects of the FF there's a goldmine there waiting to be made.

Having Baker work on any movie is a good thing. His work is always a highlight for me.

I still think Bell is a little old to be playing a high school Peter Parker. Why not get a kid, so as he grows we can see that on film. It worked really well with the Harry Potter movies. Seeing the kids mature worked well with the stories. See Peter as maybe a 16-year-old getting his powers and watching him mature as a person and how he deals with his powers (and the reponsibilities) would be a great part of a new trilogy.

I'm sorry, but I just can't see Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet. They can add all the 3D effects they want to this movie; there's no way I'm going to see it. And what if the trailer's good? Well, that doesn't mean anything, because all the good parts could take up two minutes of film. I'll wait for this one on HBO.

i'm sorry but this kid they picked for spidey is wrong,at least that pic is,it creeps me out, looks like he could play a troll without make-up effects(sorry jamie)  maybe if he did something with his hair

silversurfer 6/9/2010 10:45:24 AM

Emma Frost is an interesing character and if not done properly, it could be a big dissapointment. I think she'll do fine though...verdict is still out on Bell as Parker...which is what we're all actually talking about in the first place
