Marvel Studios and Universal Pictures have set Tim Roth to play Emil Blonsky, the alter ego of the Abomination, in the HULK.  Roth joins a cast which already includes Ed Norton and Liv Tyler.

In the comics, Blonsky is a KGB agent who deliberately exposes himself to the gamma rays that caused Bruce Banner to morph into the Hulk. Blonsky has upped the dosage, making him larger and stronger than the Hulk, but unable to change back to human form. He blames Banner for his problem, and makes his best efforts to destroy the Hulk.

Louis Leterrier will direct.  Release is set for June 13, 2008.

The Abomination, real name Emil Blonsky.

Hulk versus Abomination.

Could be good. Could be crap. I'm waiting to see some footage to get a feel for how they are shooting this one.

Norton and Roth are two great actors who can bring the sublime into their performances. Considering the Hulk is pretty much an in your face experience with "Hulk smash" theatrics, the manner the two go from zero to a manic sixty can bring some depth to the acting here.

How much acting could Roth really bring to the film if Abomination cannot turn back into human form? It would be very cheesy for the big man to have the voice of Roth... I am definitely going to have to see this in action to grasp where this is going. A lot of serious actors for a movie about a green meanie that likes to smash...

For some reason I keep imagining Liv Tyler in Armageddon when I think of how this movie will play out. What the Hulk needs is a good Aerosmith video.

Wow, love both Norton and Roth. Get rid of Tyler and I'm all set for this film. She has that persistant "lost" look to her. She makes Connelly look like a real scientist. Maybe she has a little, bitty part.

I've been wondering what Roth was up to. Now I know. To see Norton square off against Roth (in any shape) would definitely be fascinating. Consider me there, even if Liv Tyler is in it.

Roth was the best thing about the Planet of the Apes remake or reimagining or whatever they call it. A good villain is necessary for any movie. Now hopefully, the rest will work out right.

CappyMorgan-- get rid of Tyler??? Shes the eye-candy. I think shes all that and a bag of chips. Hopefully, her wardrobe will be as revealing as any girl appearing in a comic book. She makes me wanna reforge my sword ifyouknowhutimean

I need to see a trailer. People might assossiate the abomination with what took place in the previous Ang Lee film. I don't have high hopes for this one. Although I thought Edward Norton was great in the Illusionist, and Roth is a good actor, but it does take more than good actors to make a great movie.
