DC Comics' greatest superheroes make their small screen debut in Cartoon Network's JUSTICE LEAGUE

Clint from Moviehole has confirmed and expanded on the news Robert Sanchez brought to us yesterday that Christian Bale will not be part of any JLA movie from Warner Bros. In fact, both Brandon Routh and Christian Bale will not be reprising their roles in the coming adaptation of the JUSTICE LEAGUE film. Casting will begin as early as next week for the film which Warner Bros wants in theaters by Summer 2009. The roles of Batman & Superman are both central to the story of the film and they will be recast.

As far as the other characters appearing in the film, these are the current confirmed characters; Superman, Batman, the Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern.

More may appear by the time of final cut (George Miller is directing the adaptation.) but the characters named above are "confirmed". As I said, casting will begin over the next few weeks and there are rumors that some key roles are already filled..The Ryan Reynolds rumor as "Flash" may be one of them.

JUSTICE LEAGUE will hit theaters for Warner Bros around Summer 2009.

Big thanks to Maniac scooper, jon41380, for passing this along..

I know it seems like a hassle to get Bale and Routh, but I think it would sure bring the DC movie universe together in a way none of the marvel films have been able to do.

I'm sure Nolan, Bale, Singer & Routh are none too happy about Warner Bros doing this to them, TayDor, for the reasons you just mentioned. Bale said just yesterday that he would prefer it if they "waited" till after the 3rd Batman movie hits before they do this..I'm sure he was probably speaking for Nolan on that one. Warner Bros doesn't seem to be willing to wait though... I'm sure there will be heated quotes from all the different parties in the near future. Jarrod S.

I'm glad they cleared this up...the involvement of Routh and Bale appeared to be the most pressing question about this movie. While it would be cool to have all this big-screen canon like the Diniverse, I can live without. In fact, not having those guys involved really frees up JLA, and allows it to be its own entity. Plus we get to watch it a whole lot sooner than having to wait for Supes and Bats to release their respective trilogies. Heck, WB can oversaturate the market with the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern films too! I disagree with Wessmith1966. I know he hasn't posted yet, but hes usually wrong.

Oh well, WB previously abandoned what could have been an awesome "World's Finest" movie directed by Wolfgang Peterson because they "...wanted to keep the franchises separate." I'm satisfied on some level that NOW that they would like to merge franchises, the actors aren't available or don't want to do it.

Waiting Mr. Bale? No! I don't want to wait for a JLA movie after the third Batman film. When would that be? ;-) It's sad that the won't do the movie with Routh and Bale. But I'm sure there are still many other actors out there who can play those parts.

This is a blessing in disguise for the Nolan/Bale series and that's simply because WB is throwing this together and it's gonna flat out suck. A movie of this scale can't be thrown together haphazardly. I can't believe that WB is really gonna blow their load so early. This isn't the X-Men or the Watchmen. This is the JLA for chrissakes! This vexes me, I am truly vexed.

Uh...Flint...not gonna say anything about your X-men views...people just have to realize that other opinions DO exist...but where do you EVEN get off comparing "JLA" and "X-Men" to "The Watchmen"?! Have you ever READ "Watchmen"? From what I've heard and the news I've followed, they're not exactly tossing the Watchmen movie together either. Christ, they're looking for actors to play the real people who were in the comic, like Richard Nixon and John McLaughlin among others. I'm sorry, but I have to say that "Watchmen" was much more ground breaking and socially provocative than a bunch of god-like beings who decide to team up to fight evil.

TK didn't mean to offend anyone. All I waas implying was we would have no X-men or Watchmen with out the JLA. Watchmen was a phenomenal read and I know of the struggles it's faced in becoming a film. Having said that I'm leary of Watchmen on the big-screen. I don't want to see it disrespected. X-Men 1 & 2 were great movies. But you saw, with X3, what can happen when a studio becomes impatient and rushes something. X3 was a CATASTROPHE. I just don't want to see all of the JLA's magnitude/ potential get lost amongst the WB's greed.l

I have only one thing to say: TayDor is right, in my opinion.
