Routh Out of SUPERMAN Sequel?

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Date: Friday, January 04, 2008
Source: Latino Review

That's what Latino Review is reporting a day after the old speculation reared its head again. Latino's crew reports that whoever portrays Superman in the Justice League film will go on to play the same character in future Superman films. This goes against previous confirmed reports that Warner Bros wanted to keep the franchises seperate.

As I said in yesterday's article, though, this is all pure speculation. Nobody from WB has officially said anything on any of these topics popping up on the various news sites.

So this could be a final reboot, no homage, no prequel-sequel. No kid, no teenage Lois. This could work.

Or it could end up failing horribly, depending on who WB cast as their JLA "Superman"..They could end up getting some 23 year old actor with highlights to play the character in the film and we could end up being stuck with him for the future movies..

Or it could work as you say..Who really knows, right?

Hell, I seriously doubt JLA will get even made no matter how many times I have to write up more speculation on it..Perhaps, I'm wrong..When the WGA strike ends..A JLA film could end up in production in the near future (even if I doubt it).

We also know that the DGA and SAG will be going against AMPTP on the exact same issues that the WGA are currently fighting them on. So, WB is waiting for this current strike to resolve only to have two new possible strikes rear their heads in the upcoming months.

If...If...If....A lot of those come into play when talking about any JLA movie or this whole Routh/Singer angle...

If Warner had of sat down with Nolan and Bale and Singer and Routh and nutted out a deal where evryone would of been happy with the way characters would be represented, the JLA moviwe would of smashed all box office records...... Bale has publiclly said no way....... now Routh looks like he is out. What the hell ever happened to the days when an actor stepped up and said I'm going to make this character mine.... and actually stuck to that ?
The JLA movie is now gonna die a sad death !
Warner Brother idiots !

This has got to be balogna...
I can almost see the replacing Routhe, but Bales Batman will not be replaced with some kiud from this film... no way... at least I hope not. I give Superman Returns a hard time, i mean it just wasn't what I was looking for, but it had it's moments, and still seems 1000 times better than some new kid and his 90210 friends flying around as the Justice League and then taking over the franchises IMHO.

MadManic,

WB isn't replacing the Batman character in future Bats sequels..This only applies to Routh and Superman Sequels...

But yes, I do agree with you on that whole 90120 issue..That's why both Bale and Nolan have expressed displeasure at the whole JLA thing..Bale wants WB to wait till his trilogy is over..Who really knows what WB will cast for their JLA Superman..Will it be someone we even "want" for future Superman sequels? That's why this speculation seems crazy at the moment..

We don't know if there will even be a JLA film. We don't know if JLA will even perform up to expectations (or fail)..

THAT'S BULL$-!T!!!!!!

If Routh is dumped I won't be back for the next round.

Keep JLA and Superman SEPERATE. It makes ZERO SENSE to have the same actor in both films.

There was nothing wrong with Routh's portrayal of Clark/Superman in SR. I liked the movie, however, I do wish there was more action in it. When the first X-Men movie came out, I was really disappointed with it because I felt it lacked dialogue and the action was subpar. However, Singer knocked it out of the park with X2. I understood that he needed to introduce the X-men to another audience and establish the characters since it was the first movie. I saw him follow that same formula with SR, and I have no doubts that the Superman sequel will be tons better. The JLA movie needs a new director, and a new cast. No one, I repeat, NO ONE wants a JLA movie with teen drama actors, with the exception of Tom Welling being cast as Superman (IMO), IF, WB can't wait for the Batman Trilogy and Superman Trilogy (if we even get that), before launching JLA so that we can have Routh and Bales play Superman and Batman respectively. Or even a Superman/Batman movie like that easter egg inI Am Legend teased. WB really needs to start paying attention to what Marvel has done and currently doing wiith their movies, because they're getting the job done. If this news is true, replacing Routh for upcoming Superman flicks is a ahuge mistake. Look how long it took for him to be cast as Superman. It could be just as long of a wait for them to cast Superman for JLA.

Totally beleive able....I think supes was just lacking from good script writing....all the money was being dumped in special effects and fixing up Donner's Superman 2 lol Jeremy lesser of two evils~

Darkknight2280 • Jan 04, 2008, 04:21am •
Routh was a great SUPERMAN! Really embodied the character; reminded me alot of Chris Reeves. i will be VERY upset if he doesnt come back to don the cape.

Not so sure this is true, I mean doesnt he have a contract for 2 sequels?

Is this JLA movie live action or a CGI animi?
