Movie Rumor Control

Routh is Still SUPERMAN for WB

It seems that different moles over at Warner Bros. are not seeing eye to eye over Brandon Routh donning the tights once again. As you know, we passed along the speculation from Latino Review that WB has decided to let go of Routh's services in favor of whoever plays Supes in the upcoming JLA movie. That actor would end up playing the character in future individual installments of the character, outside of the JLA franchise. As I said yesterday, this bit of speculation flew against previous confirmed reports that WB wanted to keep the two franchises (JLA and Superman) seperate.

Now, AICN is reporting the exact opposite. Their mole says Brandon Routh will continue playing the Superman character in future individual films regardless of what LR is reporting.

The speculation train keeps rolling along...

GOOD! I liked Routh and found him to be a great Superman. Now just get rid of Singer and the writers of Returns. Get some great writers, like the people who wrote Batman Begins or something like that. Dump the rehashed plot for Zod and get Darkseid, Doomsday, or Braniac. I am so damn sick and tired of Superman's greatest threat being some dumb human with some spare Kryptonite. He needs a REAL threat like Darkseid. Real ass kicking Superman fighting. Now that would be action!

The WB is really making a mess here. Routh was good, and recasting him in the Supes sequel would only further dilute the validity of Superman films with the Justice League movie coming out.
Kudos to Marvel with taking a smart approach with the Avengers and spinning off the X-Men after the trilogy.

Screw the JLA movie. JLA movie = Train Wreck waiting to happen. originaldave77 is right, the Avengers movie will pwn the JLA movie. Marvel movies are better than DC movies, except for Batman. But that is because Christopher Nolan is making them.

Nolan is the man, axia777. Dark Knight looks to be brilliant.
I don't think the fanboys or the general public were clamoring for a JLA movie. Its great WB is attempting something of this scope, but it seems out of place.
Time will tell.

While SR sucked for many reasons, reasons that have been so amply discussed here that it boggles the mind how any sane logical person could still think that SR was a good movie.

However, for me, the one good thing about SR was Brandon Routh. I would definitely see another Superman movie with Routh. Just get a new story instead of a remake.

man, I dug Rought as SM.... he was the saving grace of the movie, which I cant stand to watch do Lois and the kid... keep Routh

I loved Routh's Kent but just couldn't get into him as Supes... howver he was definitely not why I didn't dig the film. I just didn't like the story. It's fun to bash SR but I still think they could get a sequel right and I'm willing to give Routh another shot, but as mentioned earlier not the writer.

Routh needs to go so they can do a complete reboot like Marvel's reboot of The Hulk. But if Warner wants to keep making mistakes, fine...more room for Marvel and other companies to succeed with every new Warner failure.

In other news, I just saw the Sara Conner Chronicles. It was very amatuerish, cheap looking, and downright clumsy at times, but the climatic sequence carried a few new twists that you have never seen before in the Terminator mythos. That last 12 minutes or so of the pilot episode, starting with a seeming bank heist, and the resulting incidents therein, were refreshing to see, and opened up a whole new view on how the "future human resistance" operates in our present, past, etc.

I Will Tell you Why Superman Returns was a Good Movie. Simply because it was Old Fashion elements to the Movie. Superman Was, as he always IS. In Love with lois, and Trying to save the world one Tragedy at a time.

Now, for the Generation X Cinescape forum monkeys, who want to see Superman don the black costume, pop some claws, and rap poeple upside the head with his batarangs. Superman Returns was NOT THE MOVIE FOR YOU !!!!

Superman Stands for the Proper use of Power. Not Throwing Fists at every Villain villain thats rears his ugly head.

Now lois Lane has born his child and another conundrum is in store for him. How does he help Lois lane raise his son without interfereing in her life, and Other Relationship. I believe his Clark Kent Personae will be Hihly used for this purpose.

I am for One excited about a sequel. I want to see The Krytonite island continue to grow into that small moon all the insiders are hinting at. Maybe a New Krypton will be born after all, and maybe Superman will ressurect Kryton to its Golden Age again.

Routh was the only one in SR that I didn't have a problem with. He did a fine job as SM, but if replacing him is the price that must be paid to do away with the kid and Kate Bosworth as Lois, then so be it.I wouldn't mind seeing come back but hey have to undo the kid somehow and recast Lois' role.
I know a lot of people seem to be having a problem with them casting a young SM. I for one don't have a problem with it as long as he appears to be mid to late 20s. That should be around the age when he first donned the cape and went to work for the Planet anyway.
