Routh Talks JLA and SUPES Sequel

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor

At the premiere to TRANSFORMERS, a lot of stars showed up with their invites. One of them was Brandon Routh (Superman) and Robert Sanchez at IESB had a chance to ask him some questions for the upcoming JLA movie as well as any sequel to SUPERMAN on the horizon. While Routh definitely  looks distracted during the video interview on the red carpet, the new "man of steel" does touch points of  interest. He tells everyone on public record that he is indeed down for a JLA movie and he would like to work alongside  Christian Bale if possible. He also points out the timeframe for filming the next SUPERMAN movie in it.

This coincides with the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly where he said he began working out again to prepare for getting back into the Supes suit.

Can't wait for this one to happen, Routh did an amazing job in SUPERMAN RETURNS.

Thanks to scooper "Daforce" for the heads up!

I want Batman and Superman to have that "we have a shaky/strained friendship and I hate your style" type of relationship from the comics.

p.s.
Feel free to show Batman beat the crap out of Superman.

I hope they add more boring to the sequel. Superman Returns was only super ultra mega crazy boring. With a little work and another horrible story, I think the next Superman movie can achieve a fantastical amazing superb supreme level of boring.

Wow! All that talk the other day about sequels being bigger and I didn't even think about the bigger boring possibilities! I don't know if that's possible for the Superman series though, nax. If it was any more boring than Returns I might fall asleep on the ride to the theater.

Don't worry, DarkJedi.

There are others of us who actually really appreciated Superman Returns. :)

I just watched it again the other day and started taking notes and forming an outline for my Definitive Critique of SR.

Course, I still have at least 4 other reviews I need to do first (Bones Finale, last 3 issues of Buffy)

Routh can come back, but his Lois Lane needs to be recast just like Katie Holmes was in The Dark Knight. They also need to get rid of Lois's dull boyfriend, Boring White.

I still don't expect much goodness from a JLA movie. What kind of story can they tell in two hours?
Well, we'll see, I reckon...

It makes sense to me that the "Superman" camp would love to piggyback on the "Batman" buzz. Let's ask Nolan and Bale what THEY think!

DarkJedi • Jun 29, 2007, 07:44pm •
Sure, let's ask them that question. Seeing how they're both working on DC properties I have to think it will be only "positive" things to say...They both want their franchises to be successful first and foremost...

IMO, Superman Returns is one of the best pure "Superhero" movies in a very long time. I love how some haters are calling it boring when it had much more exciting "superhero" moments in it then any other recent comic based adaptation in recent years.

Bah...I'm used to the hating on SR by now but it's still amazing to see the same comments again...and again...and again...

DarkJedi...Be ready to be amazed some more...SR was one of the worst superhero movies ever!!! and it achieved a high level of blatant rip-off from the first superman movie and then, they could not even come up with a new sound track to further accomplish a non level of creativeness...By the way, you will find my opinion of this movie to be the same as the masses so don't worry because you and Merin can feel special about being in the minority and how it gives you a sense of empowerment because you must surely view the world and movies through a special set of eyes only us lower beings wish we had...lol...
Just messing with you man...No really, it sucked!!!

"I want Batman and Superman to have that "we have a shaky/strained friendship and I hate your style" type of relationship from the comics."

F'ING BORRRINNNG!!!

Since time immemorial, I have seen Batman and Superman acting like a bunch of rival jackholes when it comes to working together on the pages of the comic books. I don't know what the hell get into them. They don't overlap. Superman has the "Fireman/Lifeguard" role and Batman is the "CSI/Police Detective" role.

I am sick and tired of the same crap!

Get over the jealousy and hate and work like a pair of functioning cojones ... or hang up your tights!
