Rumor Patrol: RAMBO IV?

Nu Image/Millennium Films has apparently acquired the film rights from Miramax/Dimension Films for the RAMBO franchise. The company plans to start filming on RAMBO IV in Bulgaria in January 2006.

Reports state that Sylvester Stallone signed to begin writing the script for RAMBO IV based on book that was optioned. According to Stallone, the new plotline sees the character of Rambo as having "assimilated into the tapestry of America", living with his family in relative peace for the past fifteen years but still working for the military, when work pressures force him to move his family to the American outback. The Navajo-Indian former Green Beret and his family are then subject to an attack by white-supremacists, and Rambo has to risk life-and-limb in rescuing his 10-year old daughter from being held hostage.

Nu Image/Millennium Films has persuaded Stallone to co-star with a younger actor in the film. The company says, "If No. 4 works, then you have a No. 5."

Thanks to AB for the note.

Give it a rest, the Rambo series died in the mid to late 80's. It's an obvious sad attempt to resurrect the career of Stallone who hasn't had a hit since "Cliffhanger," in 1993. Let sleeping dogs lie, this will just be another cheesy lame attempt to draw water from a dry well.

This just might work out if they maintain the Rambo character in the movie to be more of an older and wiser fighter than he was in the original three (maybe even a little smarter). Of course he would have to be just as deadly if not that, more deadly than before.

Operation: Contra. There used to be a rumor that Rambo and Commando would be on the same movie with Sly & Arnold in the late 80's. Due to the huge budget that movie would cost they decide to dump it. If ever they decide to do it then bring Arnold along for the ride. Imagine two guys with machine guns blazing looks like a computer game.

The hell with ARNOLD. We need a new Terminator. Let him stay in CA leading the nazi party.

Funny, I watched Sylvester Stallone on Larry King and he described the plot for Rambo IV differently than what this articles says. In addition, he told Larry King that it was a done deal, that he had just "signed yesterday". Hmm...

Id rather see COBRA 2: The cure returns. Brigette Nielsen could be a Meth addict hiding from her pimp Flavor Flav. Cobretti finds her with his new partner ChuckD. Public Enemy can truly reunite for the soundtrack.

well hell maybe along with rambo 4, they'll finally get some other projects done that have been rumored for at least 7 years: True Lies 2 (was supposd to be out 2 years ago with Fantastic 4), Total Recal 2 (another name for "Paycheck", Commando 2 (ogiianly shot but was shelved), Die Hard 4, and a few others.
