Rundown of the first 30min in "Spider-Man 3"

Scooper JMJ recently emailed me saying that he had seen a bunch of Spider-Man footage which he believes to be the first 30 or so minutes of Spider-Man 3.

Please note, there ARE spoilers here, so proceed at your own peril!

JMJ writes:

It’s anyone guess where the following footage takes place but by the coverage I watched, it definitely seemed like the first quarter of the upcoming Spiderman 3. I’m 90 % sure it’s the first hour of the movie where the following takes place. Take that how you want to. It could be moved or edited but this is what happens with the coverage I’ve seen long before any WonderCon coverage.

The screen comes from black to a scene with Aunt May. She’s talking to someone. we don’t know. (The audience doesn’t know and yet we do). All of a sudden Peter comes into the picture.

Their talking about marriage. Peter is talking about marriage and love.

Peter tells Aunt May that he’s thinking of proposing to Mary Jane, the love of this life.

Aunt May smiles that beautiful smile of hers and does something.

She gives Peter her ring.

Peter and Aunt May talk for a minute or so more...

Screen fades…..and all of a sudden...

Peter is riding on his scooter down the streets of New York.

Aunt May in Spider-Man 2

He smiles with a ring his pocket. He knows what’s coming next….or does he?

….Camera pans up.

Harry Osborn (decked in total Goblin gear) springs his attack. He grabs Peter (in plain clothes) and throws him up in the air...and as Peter is tumbling the air watching his “ring” fall from his hands…he immediately goes for it but Harry attacks again! Peter tries to block but doesn’t have enough time and is thrown towards a building.

Peter automatically assumes his normal Spidey position on a building. Hands outstretched facing towards “Goblin” Osborne.

Harry shouts about Peter killed his father.

Peter tries to reason with him but the fight takes place none the less.

Peter doesn’t know what to do initially so he starts to evade through the alleys of New York. The camera follows the camera (making for some wonderful early CGI work) with Harry Osborn chasing Peter (no Spidey outfit) through the alleys….Peter using his webs and Harry on the Goblin slider.

This fight and chase scene takes place for at least 20 minutes (though with final studio edits, its probably going to be 12-15 minutes long) between Harry (in Goblin gear) and Peter (in plain clothes).

Finally, Peters had enough!

The fight is on!

He swings around a building and when Harry approaches and he knocks the crap out of him in a surprise attack.

Harry falls off his slider…hits the side of a building and lands in an awkward position on a dark alley floor.

James Franco in Spider-Man 2

Peter panics.

He realizes what he has done.

He comes down to the alley floor next to Harry’s seemingly lifeless body. He calls his name and ….

Footage fades.

KJ's Take:  Good.  It's about damn time Harry gets his ass kicked, he annoys the heck outa me.   I would be just as happy if he wasn't even in the film, but regardless, sounds like it could be a cool elongated fight scene.

you know, i am so sick and tired of this KJ person putting his 2 cents worth into every single aspect of this website that i want to know who he really is. if he is an editor, stick to editing and keep your mouth shut. you're no better than harry knowles and his crew. you think just because you have a website it's your personal forum for how you feel about movies and such. this is one reason why i have not posted sinced this became mania. i preferred cinescape's format much better. at least there, people were not with the company. which is why this will be the last time i ever post here. kj, why don't you call 1-800-waaaaaa, extension boohoo

redwing1...I felt the same way you did at first but then I realized it does cause people to think and then put there comments/opinions down about the matter...If his opinions cause people to want to say something about the subject matter, is that realy all that bad?

I can't wait for this and though I don't agree with KJ's thoughts I am looking forward to this big time...This movie is going to rock!! But even that is still left to be seen...

I'm just wondering why the hell he's pissed off at KJs take here so much, mla.

Does this guy like Harry that much to be pissed off on KJ's take? lol

Anywho.....
It's hard to believe it's almost here...... and this sounds sweet.

I skipped the spoilers on this article (thanks for the warning!), but I had to comment on the comments on KJ.
redwing, why not actually read the Take, then comment on it? Like, explain why you disagree?
The reason I come here is for the comments. News is good, but I like a variety of perspectives. KJ is one perspective. If all you want or need is news, do what I did re: spoilers, and STOP READING WHEN YOU SEE THE WORDS KJ'S TAKE!

Capt - I absolutely agree with your take. The main reason I come to this site is to get other peoples views on content that I like, i.e., movies and comics. I don't always agree with KJ but it's great to have a place to sound off and talk with other Maniacs. Not to mention the occasional flaming thread with KJSucks running scared is always worth a few laughs.

Great info -- so excited about this on. I wonder how it will play out in the end -- the footage you detail, that is.

Keep the comments coming KJ! You definitely fuel the fires of conversation. I pretty much agree with your take on Harry; he's been a bitchy, spoiled brat in the series and it'll be good to see Peter dust him like an Oklahoma road on a hot summer's day! I can't wait to see this film; Raimi, the cast and crew have done a wonderful job of bringing Spider-Man's corner of the Marvel universe onto the big screen.

This is not USAToday. Everyone comments on his reviews so he's more than welcome to interject an opinion. If it annoys you so much, skip it.

in response to my comments made, i'm not a big fan of the character for one thing. as for this "kj" person, i'm NOT a big fan. the reason is this: since this website was started as cinscape, the only ones that have made comments were those signed up, and it's those comments, good or bad, that matter most. but when the people who make the website put in their opinions, they never have anything worthwhile to say. the website is for us, not them. they post the news and we respond. that's suppose to be how it works. maybe i come from a different era, but that's MY take. i'm sorry if i've offended anyone out there
