Rupert Evans is the New SUPERMAN?

Source: Superhero Hype

Take this as a rumor because it's based on a scooper over at Superhero Hype and it is not confirmed by any means. The scooper informed SHH that actor Rupert Evans has been cast, or is about to be cast, as Superman in the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA movie by Warner Bros. The actor is primarily known by his role as Agent John Myers in the 2004 HELLBOY film. Since there has been indications that Bats and Supes will be portrayed by older actors, I'll mention that Evans turned 30 last March.

Warner Bros has already said that they will not confirm any casting until they have the full team assembled for the production. They hope to have production under way by early 2008 in hopes of a summer 2009 theater release.

In other news, our good friend Patrick over at Back Row Chatter had his inside source on the JLA production chime in after the first 14 pages of the script treatment were reportedly leaked to online outlets. "Not so fast", says his spy. According to this report, the leaked 14 pages are not real and he goes on to detail what actually happens in the real script being used by WB. "Take this as a rumor because it's based on a scooper over at Superhero Hype and it is not confirmed by any means."

Okay... even if by some strange coincidence it turns out to be true, why are you reporting it? There is no credible evidence supporting it whatsoever. It's the same as "I heard through a friend who heard from some guy that blah, blah, blah." As far as we know this was created by some 'scooper' fanboy who felt he'd make a great Superman who knows someone at SHH.

Sorry to be so critical, but geez, pretty soon you'll all be reporting about each others websites instead of the facts. I stopped visiting AICN for this very same reason and all the other fanboy glee and would hate to see you guys lower your standards as well.

Rumor or not and 30 years old or not...Everyone bitches about how young Routh looked and his less than SUPER physique...enlarge this dudes photo...even at 30 he still looks like a kid to me...not to mention I remember him being rather runt-like in that movie...BAD CHOICE...even for some fapping fan-boy's wet-dream!

This could work. He doesn't seem that young to me. He looks about 30, which is probably around the age you want if he's already in the JLA

metalwater • Oct 24, 2007, 05:28am •
No...he's not Superman. Maybe Jimmy Olsen...but not Superman. Who's casting this thing anyway, The Tooth Fairy???

Man, if this is true it is total bullshit... I try to keep an open mind but GODDAMN IT!!! They actually may have gone out and found a guy smaller and geekier than Routh... Not sure why, but I am genuinely pissed off...

Random rumors about casting aside... I still think this is one giant recipe for disaster. Until I learn otherwise, I see this as a genre killer much like Batman and Robin was a genre killer. Everything I've heard about this movie just screams "You'll stop making superhero movies for 10 years just because this one is so bad!"

I really have to agree with the general consensus so far because Evan is definitely no Superman. He is barely a Flash and more like Scarecrow. Jimmy Olsen yeah, Superman in the words of Will Smith "Hell Naw!"
He`d have to put on like at least 30lbs of muscle. I just don`t see it. Who the hell is casting this movie? First they don`t get Ryan Reynolds who should be Flash. Now they want this pip squeak to play Supes!
WTF! This movie is already a bad idea. They are just making things worse!

I guess they could pad his suit a lot, but I have to agree that he looks too slender to be Superman. Since they're going young with the cast, how about Sarah Lancaster (the sister on NBC's Chuck) for Wonder Woman. She's tall enough, has the build for the part, and even reminds me of Lynda Carter a little in the face.

Let's keep in mind that this is just a rumor. Having said that I think no one is ever going to fit the role perfectly. It's after the fact that people decide wether or not they pulled it off. I think Evans can pull it off. Although I agree with wessmith that he may need to bulk up or pad his suit.

yea whats up with this news about an unconfirmed rumor in another site?

anyway, the first couple of pages of this script,if indeed they are true, don't sound that bad. There may be hope for this film just yet.

this rumor about evans will probably end up true. i just have a bad feeling about it. and I agree wiseguy, no one will fit the role perfectly, everyone will complain no matter who gets cast.
