Simon West's current film, TOMB RAIDER, broke $100 million this last weekend domestically, but the helmer has previously said that he's at work on his next project, a big screen version of the classic '60s cult TV series THE PRISONER. Now, it seems that Russell Crowe may be in the running for the film's title role.
According to Chicago Sun-Times columnist, Cindy Pearlman, Crowe is the person being sought to take on the role of the eternally tense Number 6, who had originally been played by the program's creator, Patrick McGoohan.
Can West get Oscar winner Crowe for the film? Well, he managed to get Academy Award recipient Jolie for TOMB RAIDER. Time, of course, will tell.
