McKellen and Stewart for X-Men Sequel

Original Magento and Professor X Return!

By Robert T. Trate     November 27, 2012

Bryan Singer, director of X-Men: Days of Future Past, tweeted today (11-27-12) that both Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen will return to the X-Men franchise. Here is his official tweet:
“I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult to X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Also thrilled to announce Sir Ian Mckellen and Sir Patrick Stewart.”
All this news came during the premiere of The Hobbit of in New Zealand where Singer just happened to be hanging with Sir Ian himself.
The size of their roles may be considerable or just cameos, but it already gets the imagination stirring.

Okay I think I understand why.  This is cool.

ok...kool.... can they do as a good a job of keeping all the x-men movies relavant like Abrams did with star trek? i hope so.

Abbrams Trek Relevant???  I may have just thrown up a little bit. Why would you even bring up Abbrams or his Star Trash?

As long as this disregards the first Wolverine and X-Men 3 from continuity, I'm all good with this.

Sounds like this could be a good thing.

No Sir Ian at the Hobbit premiere but I did see Singer. I'm not sure if anyone else recognised him though.

I think it's pronounced Star Tresh, trollman.

Well this is an uneXpected surprise! A good surprise to say the least.

I'm done bitching about all my X-Men peeves from the movies....for now.

Anyway I like this idea. My one hope is that somehow they can fix the continuity issues since this is a time travel film.

I'm actually a tiny bit excited for this, never thought I'd say that but putting my complaints aside has me in a positive state of mind :)

And no I'm not boycotting anything. I don't think it would be a good thing for Marvel to have all their heroes under their umbrella at the end of the day

Agree this could correct some of the continuity issues but I doubt it will explain Alex Summers and his much younger brother Scott.

They should bring in Kurt Busiek as a creative consultant. He was the master at explaining/correcting continuity issues in comics.

Do I like this idea? so-so. It does bridge the X-men films together (which is why FC was not a reboot). I sense a Jackman casting announced very soon as well. I know Prof X and the X-men first met Logan in X-men 1 but, if they are changing continuity with this time travel thing...all things can be redone. I wonder if this is why Vaughn quit? Because his FC could have been a stand alone X-men film but now he would have had to go through linking all movies together. mmm.....

Agree Wise. I'm done bitching of X-men and Fox. At this point, they will never let go of this franchise and Disney has too much to handle at this time with Avengers Cinematic Universe and now Star Wars. Fox can keep X-men but...I want FF back at Disney. Reed Richards needs to geek it out with Banner and Stark. The Thing needs to go toe to toe with Hulk. Johnny Storm should meet Steve Rogers and say "you look good, right back at you".
