It's been rumored for months, now Aint It Cool adds more steam to the rumor that Ryan Reynolds will play Deadpool in the 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' movie.
A report filed by "Moriarty" on the site states that he's "officially confirmed" Reynolds will play the Merc with a Mouth in the film. No word on what source has provided this confirmation, but Moriarty tends to know about these things.
We've known for a while that Deadpool would make a small appearance in the film (apparently he is one of many Marvel characters dropping by). It's also been openly discussed by that actor himself that Reynolds is a prime candidate to topline a 'Deadpool' movie.
What's interesting, though, is that Marvel seems to be casting leading men in these cameo roles. If you ask us, this indicates a on Marvel's part use the movies to springboard other films in the same way a guest-shot in one comic and springboard a new comics series. (Think 'Incredible Hulk' #181).
Is that what the 'Wolverine' movie is then? Both an 'X-Men' spin-off and a pilot for Deadpool, Gambit and other marvel films? We'll find out next summer!
