There's a few martial art extravaganzas on the near horizon out of Hollywood but one has artist RZA leading it with Eli Roth and fellow fan Quentin Tarantino, who has already toed his fanboyism into the genre with his Kill Bill duology. A few weeks ago, Billboard made the announcement that the three were teaming together to make a new film based around the Asian pop culture films of previous cinematic eras.

Now, CHUD is following up with Eli Roth on who's behind the production. The answer? RZA is not just writing the film but directing, says Roth.

"This movie will have everything martial arts fans could want, combined with RZA's superb musical talent," said Roth.

You know if the RZA is working on a martial arts project, it will be damn good. The dude is such a student of the arts. He immerses himself in this stuff so well. And his tracks are the shit. The stuff he did for Afro Samurai was banging. He is also a decent actor. Bobby Digital son!!
Not a big fan of Eli Roth though. His movies tend to suck in my opinion. The best thing he`s done so far is that Thanksgiving trailer.

RZA always brings fire when he does soundtracks. I would love to see a martial arts film from America that knocks my socks off. It's been a while.

Definitely a "We'll see what we'll see."

RZA directing? That may be his own undoing. I'm cool if you write it and star in it but the director part I would leave for someone with experience. He may be able to do it but damn that's risk.

vichuss, you're right. Last American martial arts flick that I liked was Kill Bill I think. And there have been few and far between.

I just found out this film will be titled The Man with the Iron Fist. If I was Marvel I'd start talking to my lawyers to have that title changed. It's common knowledge that Marvel has been talking about an Iron Fist movie for a while so I'd be worried about that title.

It's not like Marvel didn't rip the name off of a half-dozen kung-fu flicks in the first place.

It isn't about who used it first, it's about who has it copyrighted.
Captain Marvel being a prime example.

Iron Fist ain't A Pimp Named Slickback, from the cartoon "THE BOONDOCKS". His name is not The Man With The Iron Fist. In addition, RZA has some experience in directing. I enjoy his video "TRAGEDY". Check out "RZA's movie" on youtube. You'll start to see how serious he takes his projects.
