The Screen Actors Guild has announced its nominations for its 2001 achievements in acting, and there were precious few nominations for genre fare.
Ian McKellen was nominated for best supporting actor for his work as Gandalf in THE LORD OF THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RINGS, while Ben Kingsley was tapped for the crime thriller, SEXY BEAST.
The only woman nominated from a genre movie was Cameron Diaz as best supporting actress in VANILLA SKY.
As a whole, the cast of RINGS was nominated as an ensemble cast in the film category.
On TV, Angelica Houston was nominated for the mini-series MISTS OF AVALON.
The awards presentation will be seen March 10 on TNT.
