SAINTS ROW 2 Has A Release Date

Shipping out in late August.

THQ announced a shipping date when their follow up Saints Row 2 will hit shelves. The announcement came at the THQ Gamer Day event late last week and came online via Kotaku. The sequel to their gangland sandbox hit will enter stores on August 26, 2008 and it's ready for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

Awesome. I loved the first one to death. Being able to make your own character is one of the big thing that draws me to any video game and I am looking forward to this more than GTAIV. I really hope they manage to get back all the surviving characters back in with the original voice cast. Especially Keith David and Daniel Dae Kim.

This game will be owned by Grand Theft Auto IV.

I am anticipating this more than GTA as well. The main reason was the cliff hanger you are left with at the end of the original saints. I liked saints row because of the ability to customize everything, including the paint on the cars and the fact that we had an actual targetting system. Still gonna buy GTA4 at the end of this month, by August, I will be out of stuff to do in GTA and be ready for some Mayhem missions in Saints Row. I just hope it doesn't suck

Yeah GTA IV will sell better there is no doubt about that But coming in and dropping one sentence about how one game will 'own' the other is the type of crap that sets of ridiculous arguments, do we really need more of those? With the 4 months of space in between the releases there is more than enough time to purchase and play both imo, which is what I plan to do of course (On the 360, yay downloadable content). But once I play GTA to death SR2 will be right around the corner, with full storyline Co-Op to boot and that will rock.

I'm not saying anything to start something, just stating what i believe to be a fact from everything I've seen from GTA IV. GTA is not only going to sell better but it's going to be a better game, hence the "own" term. I don't know if i'll give Saints Row2 a try when it comes out after playing GTA4. That would be like banging Jessica Alba then have to settle with a hot chick in a bar. She'l be a good lay but she aint no Alba :)
